Hero's Forge ornaments were introduced via Patch in August of 2012 (during the Veil of Alaris expansion). The Hero's Forge Key Ring did not get added until the Torment of Velious expansion. You can access this feature via your inventory window and clicking Key Rings button. You can buy more slots for this key ring up to a maximum of 500 items. Fair warning... as of this typing... and even though this extra inventory space is great to have... it appears that the more things you have on your key rings (collectively), the longer it can potentially take you to zone!

Armor ornamentations, aka Hero's Forge (armor) Ornamentations (Slot 21), should not be confused with Weapon, Shield & Bow Ornamentations (primarily Slot 20, and they will not go onto your Hero's Forge Key Ring). 

• In order to equip Hero's Forge Ornamentations you must first "unlock" this option via the Marketplace (a button to do this should appear on your Key Ring window, if you have not yet unlocked this option). You have to do this for each Character, individually.
• When unlocked, you will get a basic Suit of 'Hero's Forge' Ornaments (for your class, these same Suits are sold by Keliss Arden in the Plane of Knowledge) and 14 Slots on your Hero's Forge Key Ring.
• The Hero's Forge Key Ring is currently limited to 250 storage slots (you will need to expend Marketplace funds to buy the extra slots).
• UPDATE: In early 2023, the key ring maximum was updated to 350 Slots.
• UPDATE: In January 2024, the key ring maximum was updated to 500 Slots.
• All Hero's Forge ornaments (of the head, arms, chest, legs, hands, wrist, feet, robe & suits) will go on your Hero's Forge key ring.
• While you have two wrists slots, you only need to equip one (1) wrist ornament (on your Character's right wrist), for the visual effect on both wrists.
• Hero's Forge (Slot 21) Ornaments can be removed or added freely... no Distiller required.
• Not all Hero's Forge ornaments are actually part of a full set. There are some that are head ornaments only. There are also Robes that are basically a stand-alone combination of arms, chest & legs (even though they only fit in the chest slot).
• Ornamentation sets can come from a variety of sources, to include quests, Achievements, Crafting, the Marketplace (when available) and as loot drops (they normally drop as individual pieces, but some newer raids are known to drop an entire suit).
• Marketplace sets can be stand-alone items (such as Robes), full Suits (sets) or they can be possible awards, such as from Heritage Crates.
• Older ornamentations can be converted between two different types, the normal (new) version and the original "old" version (just right click the ornament to change them back and forth between the two versions). The ones that you can do this with do have this noted in the item window.
• The standard (new) and "old" variants came about from the early Hero's Forge sets that looked overly bulky and thick. Players did not like them much, so they streamlined / tightened up the look and allowed players to switch between them.
• Generic recipes for the crafted ornamentations are noted below (not to include sub-combines and not to include a recipe for every possible ornamentation in a given set).
• Most, if not all, Hero's Forge Ornamentations, are tradable and / or attunable, with some exception (i.e. Marketplace Robes).
• If you equip an ornament, it generally becomes No Trade. You can reverse this in one of two ways: Urthron's Ultimate Unattuner (sold by Loyalty Vendors and the Overseer vendor) OR... a cheaper all-in-one option is to combine the full set into a "Suit" using a Hero's Forge Suit Consolidator (sold via the Marketplace and by Loyalty vendors).
• Using a Hero's Forge Suit Consolidator to combine (7) ornaments (one wrist) from the same set, is a great way to save storage space, since the (7) items become (1) item.
• You can get the (7) ornaments back (from a Suit) whenever you want to, just by using the claim / convert button in the item window (a reward window will pop up... make sure you have the bag slots open for them to drop into). As a bonus, they also become tradeable again!
• NOTE: The Hero's Forge Suit Consolidator and the Urthron's Ultimate Unattuner are both consumed in the combine (they can only be used once).
• NOTE: While there is a "Cloth Robe" as well as a "Cloth Chest" ornament from some Marketplace sets, only the "Chest" item can be used in the Hero's Forge Suit Consolidator. 
• Hero's Forge armor sets come in four basics types... Chain, Cloth, Leather & Plate. Sometimes there is also a Ringmail and a Scalemail version (such as with Heritage crates).
• While same-type armor sets are often similar in appearance or style, they do have variant looks (Cloth vs Leather, etc.). For example, the difference in a Chain Set and a Plate Set my be very minor. Look close, and you can spot the minor difference(s).
• EQ SECRET: When it comes to the Ornament sets that originate from Heritage Crates, if you can put them on, you should / will get the achievement, no matter what type they are! This is why the achievements are hidden (you can't see them until you take a step towards them, or actually complete them). For Plate / Chain classes, this can be done with noob Cloth gear. For Cloth / Leather classes it is a bit more challenging, as it may take a mix of items to do this (i.e. Terror Infused gear and anything else you can acquire... and wear... that is 'chain or plate' in appearance). The Heritage Crate sets, when you 'claim' the Suit item (to get the individual ornaments), are awarded via a Quest Reward Window. The reward includes unexplained 'Player Flags.' What 'Player Flags' means is that your Character has been flagged to use / wear the Ornaments and can get the Achievement for them.
• However, outside of the sets from Heritage Crates (crafted sets, looted sets, Marketplace Suits, etc.), this is not the case! Those sets are mot granted via a Quest Reward Window and do not give you any Character Flags. For these sets, you will only be able to get the achievements that are specifically related to your class-type (plate for plate-class, cloth for cloth-class, etc.), even though you can actually equip two different sets of the Ornaments (example, Plate can also wear the Chain, but can not get the Chain Achievement).
• UPDATE: With the advent of Persona's, you can not get all of the related Achievements by simply swapping to an appropriate Persona!
• The "hat" collection achievements work in a different way. Since you only have one (1) head and can't wear all the hat ornaments at the same time, all you have to do is  possess all of the hat...s at the same time (in your character inventory / bags). For this reason, Players can simply trade them back and forth for the Achievements (so long as they don't equip them and make them No Trade).
• NOTE: Some Vendor Sold items may require progression / flagging in order to see and / or buy the items.

HERO'S FORGE ROBES (ONLY)

Robe ornaments have a 360-degree appearance. Images below only show a frontal, view.

Robes fit in the Chest slot and cover a characters entire body, except for their hands, feet and head. As a result, any ornaments worn on the legs, wrists and arms will not be visible. Robe ornaments will not combine in a Hero's Forge Suit Consolidator, even if they are technically related to the set you are trying to combine.
