Charity Drives originally started back when Sony On-Line Entertainment (SOE) owned EverQuest. Daybreak Games has continued the annual tradition.

In the past, only donations were sought; sometimes items were sold via the Marketplace as a means of raising funds; and later (now) direct donations were set-up (noted below) with rewards attached.

Items (awards) vary by game (EverQuest, EverQuest II, Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Pox Nora, Magic: The Gathering: Tactics, etc.).

Only items for EverQuest are listed below.

Child's Play Charity Drive

• NOVEMBER 2006: This appears to have been the first Charity Drive event, held in November 2006. This event held via the Child's Play web site. There does not appear to have been any in-game items or bonuses awarded for this one ("...SOE will donate $10 per item, up to a maximum of $50,000. Items are available starting December 6, 2011...").
• NOVEMBER 2007: This event was held in November 2007. This event held via the Child's Play web site, which reportedly raised over $1.3 Million in donations. There does not appear to have been any in-game items or bonuses awarded for this one.
• NOVEMBER 2008: This event was held in November 2008. This event was held by going to the "...Child's Play site and consider purchasing some gifts. All you have to do is click on a hospital on the map and you'll be sent to the hospital's wish list on Amazon.com." There does not appear to have been any in-game items or bonuses awarded for this one.
• DECEMBER 2010: This event was held in December 2010. Items were sold via the Marketplace as a means to raise funds for the 2010 Child's Play Charity Drive, "...dedicated to providing children with toys and age-appropriate games at more than 70 hospitals worldwide." Sony (this was before Daybreak) donated "...$10 to Child's Play for the purchase of each of the following items, up to $50,000..." (items listed below).

Child's Play Winter Charity Drive

• DECEMBER 2009 - JANUARY 2010: This event was held in December 2009 to January 2010. This seems to be the first event that offered in-game items. Items were sold via the Marketplace as a means to raise funds for the 2010 Child's Play Charity Drive." As we did last year, SOE will donate $10 to the Child's Play charity for each Station Cash purchase of these items made between December 17th, 2009 and January 17th, 2010 (up to a maximum of $50,000)."

Haiti Relief Charity Drive

• JANURAY 2010: This event was held in January 2010, to raise funds towards the Haiti Relief efforts (Earthquake) ("... SOE will contribute $10 (up to $25,000) to aid in the relief efforts being sent to Haiti.").

American Red Cross Japanese Tsunami Relief

• MARCH 2011: This event was held in March 2011. Items were sold via the Marketplace (see below) in support of the American Red Cross Japanese Tsunami Relief. "For every selected item purchased March 25th-March 28th, SOE will donate $10 to the American Red Cross." Sony (this was before Daybreak) reportedly donated $3.6 Million in disaster relief, 30,000 Radios for emergency use and "...additional product as needs arise."

Extra-Life

• OCTOBER 2020 - DECEMBER 2020: There does not appear to have been any in-game items or activated in-game bonuses for this event. This was the first year for the Extra Life Charity Drive, to benefit Rady Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in San Diego, California. The goal was to raise $10,000, with Daybreak Games donating $5,000 up front. This event established the process used to present day:
  • Sign up on the Extra Life web site (a link should be in the announcement);
  • Join the Darkpaw Games Team (a link should be in the announcement);
  • Donate or Raise funds via others (ask for donations... either way the Player is credited for the full amount), using provided links (via the Extra Life web site) for:
    • The Darkpaw Games Team;
    • Or a Darkpaw Games Team member (Player);
    • Or via their own Darkpaw Games Team member listing.
• OCTOBER 2021 - DECEMBER 2021: This event was to once again raise funds for Rady Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in San Diego, California, with no cited fund-raising goals. There does not appear to have been any in-game items or activated in-game bonuses for this event, but there was a Tile ('Extra Lifer') offered that Players (with an active account) could use on the EverQuest Forum, for any donation(s).
• OCTOBER 2022 - DECEMBER 2022: This event was to once again raise funds for Rady Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in San Diego, California, with Darkpaw kicking in $5,000 from the start. This is also the first year that in-game items were offered for raising / donating certain dollar amounts (claim codes were sent to Players via e-mail), as well as activated progressive in-game Bonuses (for all Players) if the overall total funds raised reached certain progressive amounts by cited dates ($15,000 to $70,000 meant In-Game Bonuses of up to +200% for Character Experience, Faster Rare Spawn Chances, Extra Loot Drops and / or Extra Coin Drops was activated for a limited time on certain pre-determined date spans).
• AUGUST 2023 - DECEMBER 2023: This event was to once again raise funds for Rady Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in San Diego, California, with Darkpaw kicking in $5,000 from the start. In-game items were offered for raising / donating certain dollar amounts (claim codes were sent to Players via e-mail), as well as activated in-game Bonuses for overall total funds raised reached certain progressive amounts by cited dates ($15,000 to $125,000 was met by a certain date, meant In-Game Bonuses was activated for up to +200% for Character Experience, Faster Rare Spawn Chances, Extra Loot Drops and / or Extra Coin Drops was activated for a limited time on certain pre-determined date spans) (over 128,000 was raised).
• JULY 2024 - DECEMBER 2024: This event was to once again raise funds for Rady Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in San Diego, California, with Darkpaw kicking in $5,000 from the start. In-game items were offered for raising / donating certain dollar amounts (claim codes were sent to Players via e-mail), as well as activated in-game Bonuses for overall total funds raised reached certain progressive amounts by cited dates (if target of $15,000 to $150,000 was met by a certain date, meant In-Game Bonuses was activated for up to +200% for Character Experience, Faster Rare Spawn Chances, Extra Loot Drops and / or Extra Coin Drops was activated for a limited time on certain pre-determined date spans).
• JULY 2025 - DECEMBER 2025: This event was to once again raise funds for Rady Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in San Diego, California, with Darkpaw kicking in $5,000 from the start. In-game items were offered for raising / donating certain dollar amounts (claim codes sent to Players via e-mail), as well as activated in-game Bonuses for overall total funds raised reached certain progressive amounts by cited dates (if target of $15,000 to $115,000 was met by a certain date, meant In-Game Bonuses was activated for up to +200% for Character Experience, Faster Rare Spawn Chances, Extra Loot Drops and / or Extra Coin Drops was activated for a limited time on certain pre-determined date spans).

Claim Codes

• Claim Codes are sent via e-mail (make sure you are using a valid e-mail);
• Normally, these Claim Codes are e-mailed at the beginning of each month;
• Players will get Claim Codes for both EverQuest & EverQuest II.
• Players, each month, will receive as many Claim Codes as they have qualified for (collectively... landmarks are normally $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 & $1,000);
• What Players get for the Claim Codes will be noted in advance (via the Extra Life Announcement);
• These Claim Codes can be used right away;
• The Claim Codes are redeemed via the Darkpaw web site, after logging into your account and entering the code (see here).
• It is possible to receive multiple claim codes for the same item(s);
• You can use on any account, if you have multiple accounts.
• In fact, you can pass your extra Claim Codes on to other Players if you wish to do so!
