EVERQUEST MARKETPLACE
EverQuest has a Marketplace, where you can buy unique, fun and useful items.
Unique, useful and silly fun things, all this is what the Marketplace brings! - Bonzz
Items in the Marketplace can be listed year round (always there), seasonally (appear only at certain times of the year... if they remember to list them) or on rare occasions (they appear irregularly and or rarely). Some items, however, are 'archived,' meaning items that once appeared in the Marketplace have been essentially put in storage and have not been offered in a long time. However, this does not mean they might not resurface at some point, which does happen once in a while.
The Daybreak Marketplace is accessed by way of the 'DB' Button in the EverQuest window, or using the typed command: /market.
In order to purchase items in the Marketplace, you need 'Daybreak Cash' aka 'DBC' aka 'Marketplace Cash,' which is purchased for real money (outlined below).
Some Marketplace offerings will automatically open your Web Browser to the Daybreak Web Site, in order to complete the transaction there.

I have heard Players often express how spending money on EverQuest is somehow a greed thing on the part of Daybreak. While it is feasible to play EverQuest for free, it can be limiting to do so. None the less, this is a misguided stance. In reality, nothing is ever truly free. After all, EverQuest has to pay the bills to stay in business in order to keep the game going. No revenue flow, no EverQuest. So, if you like EverQuest and want it to keep going...
Marketplace Cash, also know as Daybreak Cash (DBC), and formerly as Sony Cash (SC), is the 'currency' used to purchase things from the Daybreak Marketplace.
This currency is purchased, for real money, via the Daybreak Marketplace itself, or via the Daybreak Web Site.
One (1) Daybreak Cash is basically equivalent to one (1) U.S. Cent (1 DBC - $.01 U.S.). Thus, an item in the Daybreak Marketplace that lists for 500 DBC, is basically equivalent to having a $5 U.S. price tag.
Daybreak Cash can be purchased at a discount, when purchased in bulk. For example, 5,000 DBC & 10,000 DBC ($50 & $100 'values') can be purchased in bulk, for $44.99 or $84.99, respectively, essentially saving yourself $5 and $15, respectively.
Paid Member discounts do not apply towards the purchase of DBC (or certain other things).
You can see your current amount of DBC in the top left of the Marketplace window (see #1, in the image below).
.
The Marketplace lists a lot of items, all of which are categorized.
The categories are listed on the lower left side of the Window (#4, in the image below). Some categories also have sub-categories, indicated by the plus (+) sign. Click the plus (+) sign and the sub-categories will expand, so you can see them. Click the resulting minus (-) sign, and they will collapse back out of sight.
These categories are generally self-explanatory and some items can potentially be listed in more than one category.
The one category that may not be overly self-explanatory, is "Services.' This category includes Key Rings Slots, Special Potions, Special Currency and the like.
Newly added or 'sale' items are normally listed in the top center window (see #5, in the image below).
Items from whatever category you currently have highlighted on the left (#4, in the below image), will be listed in the bottom center window (#6, in the below image).
Clicking on (highlighting) any item in the bottom center window (#6, in the below image), or top center window (#5, in the below image) will populate the right bottom window with info about that item (#9, in the below image). There are two (2) tabs for that item. One (#7, in the below image) will provide a 'preview' of that item, as in what it looks like equipped; what the illusion (etc.) looks like; or provide no preview at all if it is not a item that can be previewed. The 'General' (#8, in the below image) tab provides item details as well as an 'Inspect' (#10, in the below image) button, which will pop up an Item window.
Whatever item you have highlighted (#6, in the below image) can be purchased using the 'Buy Now' button (bottom right, #13, in the below image), if you have enough DBC to buy it (#1, in the below image).
Availability & Pricing (#11, in the below image) can vary based on if you are Free To Play, if the item is Lore or not and / or if you are a Paid (All Access) Member.
.
Rather than visually looking at and browsing every category, if you all ready have an idea of the item (as in name) you are looking for, you can use the 'Find' window (#3, in the image above).
Just type in a word, or partial word, and click the 'Find' button. If there are any results, they will be displayed in the middle right window (#6, in the above image).
.
If you are a Paid (All Access) Member, Marketplace items, are always reduced by 10% in price (with some exceptions). This discount will be reflected in the bottom right of the window (#11, in the image above).
At times, special sales will increase this discount. 'Sale' items are listed on a regular basis, sometimes at discounted prices. Normally, these items will also show a countdown timer as to when the sale will end. Items with countdown timers, as a note, can disappear all together once the timer expires (be removed from the Marketplace, until such time as they are offered again). So, you need to buy them before the timer expires, in order to the items and / or get the item at the special price (if it is lowered in price).
Items can also be listed in quantity, such a 'bundle' or a 'collection' of two (2) or more of the same item or set of items, for an overall discounted price (versus the cost of each individual item).
Sometimes, items are offered flat out for free.
Paid ('All Access') accounts are awarded 500 'free' DBC once a month (#2, in the above image). Clicking the 'Claim' button, when active, will grant this award.
It will also offer you a new window where you can opt to take the 500 DBC or purchase certain items at a significant discount, for said 500 DBC (normally a Legends of Norrath item, an Experience Potion, a Heritage Crate, or similar).
The date of your accounts next monthly claim is also displayed in that same section (#2, in the above image).
If you do not claim your monthly DBC award, before the next monthly award is scheduled, you will lose the award. It must be claimed in the 30-day-ish time frame that it is offered.
Lastly, buying DBC in quantity can also reduce costs, indirectly, since it is cheaper to by DBC in bulk (see above).
.
MARKETPLACE ITEMS WITH RANDOM REWARDS
There are a number of items sold in the Marketplace, off an on, that reward one (1) or more random items from a pre-established set of of awards.
Below is a list of such items and the the potential reward item(s) that they can potentially grant.
!!!!ALERT!!!! !!!!WARNING!!!! !!!!BEWARE!!!
I have NOT personally verified the vast majority of them as actually coming from the Legends of Norrath item they are listed under! Thus, I can NOT and will NOT vouch for the accuracy of what i show below. The listings are based PURELY on research.
Potential Reward listings do not include Marketplace related Achievement rewards, which can grant an additional item and other things.
Noted prices are for DBC (Daybreak Cash) or American Dollars ($$$) at the time of the entry was made, or based on research. One DBC translates to 1 American Penny in real money... so 100 DBC is equivalent to $1 (American). All Access members get an automatic 10% discount off the noted DBC prices.

Krono will go into a slot in your inventory window. That slot, and any Krono in it, is shared by your entire account (all servers, all Characters). How many Krono you have will be shown by a small number in the bottom right of that window as well. Beside that window, is a button to 'Consume Krono,' so be wary! You do NOT want to click ('Consume') a Krono by accident, especially if you have a lifetime account! A Krono can be clicked to pay for 1 Month of All Access. Krono is primarily used as a form of currency among Players, since it is actually cheaper to pay directly for All Access, than to buy Krono. As a result, Players use Krono as a form of trade currency to buy and sell special and / or rare items with other Players. Some Players do, however, buy Krono from other Players for upwards of 4 Million Platinum each (on most servers), to maintain their accounts as All Access, rather than Free to Play (meaning they don't expend actual money of their own to pay for EverQuest... they just have to farm a lot of Platinum every month). NOTE: When buying Krono via the Marketplace, your browser will activate and take you to the Daybreak Web Site to complete the actual purchase. Krono is cheapest, mathematically, to buy a bundle of two (2) at a time, even if my a difference of only one or more thousandths of a cent. |
