This Achievement section is for the achievements related to the Dragons of Norrath expansion.

Dragons of Norrath was the 9th expansion, released February 2005.

A big GM Event took place (called 'War!'), that progressed the game into Dragons of Norrath (such the Firiona View zone being taken over). The War took place in 2005, both before and after the Dragons of Norrath was released.

Dragons of Norrath also had the first 'hidden' Alternative Advancement (AA) categories, meaning they were not visible until at least one Level (step) of the AA was earned. This was likely due that the AA's were earned via faction / progression (not purchased). They also changed what they were called (the name of the AA changed) with each level and because there were good and evil versions... and only one (1) of which Players could pursue and max out. UPDATE: The variant Norrath Keeper & Dark Reign related AA's were 'merged' into a single AA Category in April 2024. Instead of the first Level of the AA being called either 'Gift of the Dark Reign' or 'Gift of the Keeper' -- it is now just 'Gift of the Nest' for both factions.

It sold for $29.99. There was a retail boxed (retail) edition that included an in-game /claim item... a Darvual Crystal.

Once claimed, it could be given to Mirao Frostpouch in the Plane of Knowledge in trade for 10X Elixir of Refreshment (32K Mana / End, 2-Hour Refresh) & 10X Elixir of Replenishment (32K Heal, 2-Hour Refresh). You could also give back either one (1) of these items in trade for the other (should you prefer one over the other). WARNING: Never trade-in more than ONE of these items at a time, or you risk losing all but one of them! You only get one item back!)

Dragons of Norrath added:

• The original (Standard) Guild Hall (not to be confused with placed Guild Halls);
• Cultural Tradeskills (Armor) (later changed and then abandoned after Level 105 / The Darkened Sea).
• Guild Bankers;
• The Guild Portal;
• The Guild Lobby;
• "Buff Stoppage" (buffs do not count down while in certain zones like the Guild Lobby / Guild Hall);
• The in-game E-Mail System;
• Barter / Buy alternative and the Barter Hall (which was quiickly merged into The Bazaar);
• Corpse Summoners (in the Guild Lobby);
• The Bandolier;
• The Potion Belt (now obsolete).
• New Interactive World Map (Atlas View)... full-color interactive map of the world allows players to point-and-click from a world view, to a continent view, to a zone view of the traditional line maps. The "M" key now opens the map. 
• Shared Task Tab (Missions): Missions make use of a new shared task system that shares space with the Task window (Alt-Q), to include multi-group mini-raid like missions / tasks. You can manage the players in your shared task from the new Shared Task tab in the Task window.
• Guild 'Looking for Members' / Players 'Looking for Guild' Tool - (Bulletin Boards in the Guild Lobby). Allows guilds to recruit by placing persistent "ads" on bulletin boards, search for player characters who match guild criteria and send in-game emails to those members; or, allows players to find guilds recruiting members.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Achievements for this expansion were added after the fact, when Achievements were first introduced with the Underfoot expansion. They have been potentially added to and / or modified since then.

Achievements listed in the below sections are not necessarily listed in alphabetical order. They are generally listed in the order seen in the game (at the time they were added to the lists below). Use Control-F to "Find" a specific achievement that you may be looking for.

NOTE: Any rewards highlighted in YELLOW might be worth pursuing, due the fun factor, benefit or usefulness of the reward (you decide).

NOTE: Some miscellaneous “hints” may also be included in PURPLE. These hints are intended to enhance / clarify the "how to" for accomplishing the achievement.

NOTE: Items noted as a "REWARD" are items granted from the achievement, itself. Items listed as "ACQUIRED" are unique item's that can be / are / should be acquired along the way, towards completing the related achievement, but are not actually a reward granted from the achievement itself. In fact, the achievement may even be for acquiring said item. Additionally, only the more "unique" Achievement awards are noted below... "common" or "generic" Achievement Rewards like Alternate Advancement points, Character Experience & Coin, are not noted in the Reward options below.

NOTE: Hunter Achievements were added for a number of expansions (Gates of Discord to Underfoot) with the May 2021 Patch, and were modified / updated for errors in at least three subsequent Patches.

RAID INFO & STRATS

The generic strats / info below are from successful raids that I was part of, from research and / or from what I recall. The below info should be adapted, as seen fit, by your Raid Leader(s). Key emotes may also be noted below. Raid make-up (classes, levels, Player skill levels, etc.) can and do make a difference on raid strategy options and winning or losing. In any situation, Players fulfilling their roles, using assist, and following emotes is always essential. There is always more than one variant strategy that can successfully defeat a raid. As Levels increase, defeating old raids can prove much easier and more forgiving (even as a group or solo / molo, depending on how old the raid event is). However, sometimes, certain mechanics still have to be honored. It has been known that in some events, due raid mechanics, too much DPS; killing MoB X before MOB Y; and similar; can bug the raid and cause it to fail. The below info does not include details on how to complete raid-related achievements. Those are noted elsewhere on this page, if any. Some of these targets may require 'zerging' into the zone get to them (killing stuff along the way). They may also have 'adds' which are often more like trash MoB's in the general area. The original / older targets / encounters were pre-raid window events, when raids were more of a collective effort, or better, an extremely challenging group event. Any effects noted below can often 'scale to level,' so the effects can be lesser or greater than stated, depending on raid force levels. On Progression servers, targets can use 'Mitigation of the Mighty' (mitigates Spell Damage, Melee Damage and absorbs DoT damage), at least until such time as certain later expansions (typically, expansions that are at least seven-plus expansions after the expansion of the related target). While older targets are static open world (non-instance) events, there is now an Agent of Change in various locations that will provide instanced version of the same event (which are noted below, if any).

If you define a raid as allowing four (4) or more groups, the below Dragons of Norrath 'raids' (mini-raids, multi-group tasks / missions...) events qualify. However, some of them function like a Group Task for multiple groups.

Dragons of Norrath raids / events are all faction related events for either the Norrath's Keepers or the Dark Reign. Due this, all of the Dragon's of Norrath raid / events have a Norrath's Keepers version and a Dark Reign version. The only real difference between them is the type of awarded specialty currency & variant faction turn-in item: Norrath Keeper's Token / Radiant Crystal (Norrath's Keepers) or Dark Reign Token / Ebon Crystal (Dark Reign).

Calling Emoush (Max 24 Players) (Tier 2)	Lieutenant Ekiltu Verlor (Norrath's Keepers)  in Lavastorm Mountains or Captain Aleeth Zyrv (Dark Reign) in Lavastorm Mountains	If the NPC does not give you this event, you likely do not meet the pre-requisite requirements (Level 68, Faction, and completed the Tier One & Tier Two task(s) / group mission(s)... see here for details). This is a 'mini-raid' / multi-group task-progression event. To zone in, head to the northeast area of The Broodlands (it should be marked on your compass... ALT D) where you will find a cave that serves as the entrance for the mini-raid task (Tirranun's Delve). Once inside the zone, you basically have to fight your way to on open room to the far north, for a location update. Your goal is to defeat Emoush the Destroyer. To do this you must first knock out (they don't die, per se) Mystic Shiflor, Mystic Griknok and Mystic Braggle. Mystic Shiflor, Mystic Griknok and Mystic Braggle are immune to mezz, stun and root. When Mystic Shiflor, Mystic Griknok and Mystic Braggle are active, Emoush the Destroyer can not be harmed. Mystic Shiflor, Mystic Griknok and Mystic Braggle will regain consciousness 3-Minutes after being knocked out. For this reason, try to knock out Mystic Shiflor, Mystic Griknok and Mystic Braggle (balance) as close to the same time as you can (to maximize the time you have to kill Emoush the Destroyer). Once Mystic Shiflor, Mystic Griknok and Mystic Braggle are all unconscious, Emoush the Destroyer will activate. Emoush the Destroyer can flurry, is immune to fire-based attacks and uses 'Rumbling Stone' (350-Range PB AoE 1K DD with a 1-Second Stun). If Emoush the Destroyer goes inactive again, due any of the 'Mystic' MOB's being active, Emoush the Destroyer will increase HP and max hit damage. Defeat Emoush the Destroyer for the win. Emoush the Destroyer drops six (6) Glowing Stone Fragment (needed for progression) and one (1) item of loot.	EMOTE: You no stop us! Emoush will destroy! (Even started.) EMOTE: The cavern trembles as Emoush awakens. (DPS Emouch!) EMOTE: Emoush is once again protected by the goblin magic empowering him. (DPS back on the Mystics!) EMOTE: The goblin's plans now thwarted, you rest safely in the knowledge that your services will not go unrewarded. (Event won.)
Trail of Preserverance (Max 24 Players) (Tier 3)	Lieutenant Ekiltu Verlor (Norrath's Keepers)  in Lavastorm Mountains or Captain Aleeth Zyrv (Dark Reign) in Lavastorm Mountains	If the NPC does not give you this event, you likely do not meet the pre-requisite requirements (Level 68, Faction, and completed the Tier One & Tier Two task(s) / group mission(s)... see here for details).This is a 'mini-raid' / multi-group task-progression event. The entrance to this instanced event is in north area of The Broodlands (it should be marked on your compass... ALT D). Near the zone-in area, look for Osashi. Hail Osashi and follow along to start the event. Osashi will despawn. All MoB's must be kept on aggro at all times, or the event will fail (if you see an Ancient Stillmoon Guardian, the event has failed). Four (4) a Stillmoon goblin will spawn. a Stillmoon goblin is immune to Stun and Mezz. a Stillmoon goblin mut be aggroed (they do not necessarily auto-attack). When a Stillmoon goblin is killed, a new one spawns in it's place, for the entire event. After a number of a Stillmoon goblin have been killed, a Stillmoon warlord will spawn. a Stillmoon warlord AoE Rampages and uses 'Gelid Breath' (20-Range AoE 1.3K HP DD, -12 to Effective Casting Level & -10% 1HB). Defeat a Stillmoon warlord for the win. a Stillmoon warlord drops six (6) Goblin Warlord's Beads (needed for progression) and one (1) item of loot.	EMOTE: Someone ring the bell! Summon help! (Event has started.) EMOTE: a Stillmoon warlord's corpse mutters an ancient curse as you end his life. (Even won.)
Volkara's Bite (Max 42-Players) (Tier 3)	Lieutenant Ekiltu Verlor (Norrath's Keepers)  in Lavastorm Mountains or Captain Aleeth Zyrv (Dark Reign) in Lavastorm Mountains	If the NPC does not give you this event, you likely do not meet the pre-requisite requirements (Level 68, Faction, and completed the Tier One & Tier Two task(s) / group mission(s)... see here for details). This is a 'mini-raid' / multi-group task-progression event. The entrance to this instanced event is in north area of The Broodlands (it should be marked on your compass... ALT D). In the far southeast, you will find Volkara. The idea is to defeat Volkara, while dealing with adds. Volkara uses Volkara's Bite (375-Range PB AoE 2K HP DD with 5-Minute -200 HP / -100 Mana / -100 Endurance DoT). Egg Sack will spawn at 80%, 60%, 40%, 20% & 10%. Kill them or they will hatch  into three (3) Magma Spider adds Volkara drops six (6) Lava Spider Spinners (needed for progression).	EMOTE: Volkara stamps its legs causing eggs to fall from the ceiling. (Egg Sacks spawned.)

Circle of Drakes  (Mini Raid, Max 24)	Gordish Frozenheart (Norrath's Keepers)  in Lavastorm Mountains or Pericolo L'Mortev (Dark Reign) in Lavastorm Mountains	If the NPC does not give you this event, you likely do not meet the pre-requisite requirements... see here for details). This is a 'mini-raid' / multi-group task-progression event. The entrance to the instance is the 'Dragon Portal' in the far northeast part of The Broodlands. The idea of this mini-raid is to prevent drake magus MoB's from forming a circle in the center of the raid event area. When any drake magus reaches the center, it can no longer be attacked. If five (5) drake magus make it to the center, the event fails. There will be five (5) waves of X in increasing numbers (1, 3, 3, 5 & then 6). The drake magus spawn and come in from either across the bridge (east) or the tunnels (west). Defeat the waves and prevent five (5) drake magus from reaching the center to win the event. Open the chest (Draconic Focus) for loot.	EMOTE: The flapping in the distance builds as the wind picks up. (Add wave spawned.) EMOTE: The first drake takes its place in the circle. (One drake has reached center and can not be killed.) EMOTE: The second drake takes its place in the circle. (A second drake has reached center and can not be killed.) EMOTE: The third drake takes its place in the circle, you can feel the magic increasing around you.  (A third drake has reached center and can not be killed.) EMOTE: The fourth drake takes its place in the circle, you can feel their spell is nearing its end.  (A fourth drake has reached center and can not be killed.) EMOTE: As the final drake takes its place in the circle the ground trembles beneath your feet and energy shoots into the sky. (The mini-raid has failed and the Players gets kicked from the zone.)

Lore is from / based on Daybreak, Expansion release information and / or Dev / Beta Forum Info.

Where is the Princess? Something terrible is afoot. The jagged spires of the Tower of Frozen Shadow are abuzz with frenzied activity. The typically reclusive inhabitants of the tower have been spotted outside their home.  Strange, unnatural monstrosities have spilled forth from Tserrina's den and wander neighboring Iceclad, mercilessly terrorizing anyone that dares tread too close. The paladin Galeth and his company have taken up camp outside the tower, led there by rumors that suggest the recent dark activities may have something to do with the missing Champion of Tunare. Hopeful against all odds, the group braves the frigid weather and faces off against legions of unheard of aberrations. As storm clouds swirl in the skies above, blanketing them with a never-ending torrent of shadowy ice, the group struggles to uncover a way inside. Galeth is convinced that there must be a way to unlock the portal to gain entry to Tserrina's shadowy fortress. Many of the indigenous kobolds have wisely taken their leave of the island, but in their place a determined band of adventurers has arrived. What is Tserrina Syl`Tor up to?

Dark forces unite? Massive change is coming. All throughout the ruins of Kunark, soldiers are sharpening weapons and polishing armor. The frugal Outpost of Overthere has been thrown into a frenzy of activity, while a lone taskmaster relays information to Lanys T`Vyl herself. Bleak assassins and scouts lurk in every shadow, garnering information for their respective masters. High upon an icy outcropping overlooking the hills of the Dreadlands, Lieutenant Ny`Rae checks the tumultuous skies for a sign. A brilliant comet flashes through the sky, briefly illuminating his craggy features in blinding light. He nods grimly, and summons several messengers. Each is given a sealed scroll before melting silently into the shadows. It is time for final preparations. There is much to be done to ensure the victory of the Dark Princess, once and for all.

War! "The ground rumbles beneath the feet of many soldiers. From the west rises a massive army of fierce warriors, both corporeal and demons wrenched from Hate." So begins this tale of war. Twisted faces filled with hatred march with heated anticipation of victory. Leading them through the icy hills is none other than the dark lady Lanys T`Vyl, her blood-red armor gleaming in the cool morning light. Across the lands to the east, the great wizard Al`Kabor spearheads an army of light. Elven warriors and archers move forward with grim determination to keep safe the fair city of Firiona Vie. Resolve is etched upon every face; every elegant sword gleams with purity and truth. Meanwhile, back in Firiona Vie itself, the princess lays ill in bed. With her father Galeth Veredeth at her side, Firiona rests upon silken sheets, slowly gaining back the life that has been siphoned from her. The air swells with silence as the colossal forces are drawn inexorably towards each other. An age has passed since a battle of such magnitude has been waged upon Norrath. An era has ended, one of peace and prosperity. The time of war is upon us.

Trouble grows in Norrath! Dark Elves have been seen traveling the lands reeking havoc as they pass. Cities are calling out to their citizens for help gathering supplies in preparation for possible war. Something big is happening in Norrath now as the Age of War continues.

Prepare for EverQuest: Dragons of Norrath and return to the lands between Halas and Lavastorm as you seek out the Nest, the ancestral birthplace of all dragons, long sealed away and hidden from the eyes of Norrath. But beware, if the Nest is exposed too early during the Brood Dawn, all dragons and their eggs will be cursed for eternity and death will storm down on all Norrathian's not in their service. A series of events has transpired across the world of Norrath and the familiar faces of Firiona Vie and her nemesis Lanys T'Vyl return to find themselves at the forefront of the events. Unbeknownst to them, a dark influence has seeped into the world of Norrath causing new tensions to arise and conflicts to intensify as the dawn of a new age emerges. The Age of War is upon the people of Norrath and heroes return in this ultimate, unending battle between good and evil.

A gnome mining expedition has managed to dig their way through the northern mountains in Lavastorm. They came upon the dragon nesting grounds, a previously unexplored part of northeastern Antonica which is full of Nest dragons, dragonkin and goblins; and thriving with wildlife.
