LIVING LEGACY EVENTS
Where to find them and how to do them!
When your aug is better, from the Legacy... with others you might glimpse, some jealousy! - Bonzz
Living Legacy Raids are usually available around July / August of each year.
Living Legacy Events (Raids) were introduced in June 2008, and have not been added to since then.
Unlike other events in EverQuest, the goal of a Living Legacy Raid, is not to beat the Raid, per se, but to 'endure' the Raid for as long as possible.
Originally, Living Legacy was added to the game as a way to attract Players back to EverQuest. Returning Players (and in some cases, existing Players) were offered, awarded or given access to:
The Hardcore Heritage version of Lower Guk was also advertised as being added, but that event is actually part of the Hardcore Heritage series of revamped zones, not Living Legacy.
Each Living Legacy Raid awards an Augmentation (to the entire raid). The longer the raid survives / endures, the better the augmentation.
In fact, it was a bit of a competition on each server (even across servers). Sony (who then owned EverQuest) even maintained a web page (now defunct) to track (rank) the Guilds / Players on each server, who did the best with each raid event. This site is now defunct.

DISTRIBUTION FACILITITATOR XCV (Augmentation Recovery / Upgrade)
.
DISTRIBUTION FACILITATOR XCV (Augmentation Recovery / Upgrade)
1) PLANE OF KNOWLEDGE: Near the Guild Lobby, by a tree (/waypoint -265, 1375), you will see Distribution Facilitator XCV.
This NPC is there year round (not just when Living Legacy is active).
The purpose of this NPC is to help you with Living Legacy Augmentations. This NPC will also help you with Raid, Raid, Raid Augmentations.
Basically, just hail Distribution Facilitator XCV and it will give any 'Abacus' items you have earned, each of which can be clicked to award you the highest level of that Augmentation, for which you have earned.
So, if you earned a better (higher) version of one of these augs, destroy the old one and get Distribution Facilitator XCV will give you a new 'Abacus' item and then click it for the upgraded Augmentation.
Additionally, you can freely destroy these augs and get them back from Distribution Facilitator XCV, anytime you wish.
Now, the 'Abacus' items are just straight forward clicks, as follows:
NOTE: You need to destroy any version of aug related to any 'Abacus,' before you click the 'Abacus.' Otherwise, you will get a message that the 'abacus crumbles into pieces' (the Abacus is destroyed, as the augs are Lore Group and you can't possess more than one of any set). Yes, you can get the 'Abacus' back by hailing Distribution Facilitator XCV again.
.
1) PLANE OF KNOWLEDGE: You are looking for Denlin Merodon, who is on the 'neutral' side near the special Mercenary Liaisons (/waypoint -50, -65).
Once you have a group / raid of at least six (6) actual Players (no Mercs), hail Denlin Merodon and follow along, or just try saying 'would challenge it' to get this raid.
Then, say 'ready' to zone into the Raid instance.
.
2) DOMINION OF DESPAIR: This zone is a special version of The Arena zone.
In the middle, you will see a bazu called The Avatar of Despair.
The goal of this raid is to kill The Avatar of Despair as fast as possible.
What to expect:
The aug reward for the raid will be based on the amount of time it takes to do this. The less time (faster you kill it), the better the augmentation. It is not known how fast (the time factor) your raid has to kill The Avatar of Despair to get the highest known version of the augmentation.
The augmentation for this raid comes is the Iron Plated Timing Pendulum Model I (the lowest first Level version), on up to the Iron Plated Timing Pendulum Model XL (Level 40, the highest known version), depending on how long it took your raid to kill The Avatar of Despair.
There is no 'loot,' otherwise.
Beware! The Avatar of Despair does respawn, and you can give it as many goes as you like!
.
1) SOUTH DESERT OF RO: You are looking for Dougan Merule, who is on the 'neutral' side near the Ruins of Takish-Hiz zone line (/waypoint 2835, -335).
Once you have a group / raid of at least six (6) actual Players (no Mercs), hail Dougan Merule and follow along, or just try saying 'Raid' to get this raid.
Then, say 'ready' to zone into the Raid instance.
.
2) SANDKEEP ENDURANCE RAID: This raid is all about survival.
You will see Eothar, who is the 'boss' who is holding Rayna Merule captive.
The idea here is more about dealing with the adds, than the boss, Eothar. This is because the goal is not to actually defeat / kill Eothar, but to simply keep going ('endure') as long as your raid can go.
What to expect:
The aug reward for the raid will be based on how long your raid lasts (in time). The longer you last, the better the augmentation. It is not known how long (the time factor) your raid has to 'endure,' to get the highest known version of the augmentation.
The augmentation for this raid comes is the Carefully Weighted Brass Pinion Model I (the lowest first Level version), on up to the Iron Plated Timing Pendulum Model LXX (Level 70, the highest known version), depending on how long it took your raid to kill The Avatar of Despair.
There is no 'loot,' otherwise.
.
1) STEAMFONT MOUNTAINS: You are looking for Whizzlebang Twempt, who is in the mining pit between the Loping Plains and Dragonscale Hills zone lines (/waypoint 1510, -3030).
He gives two Living Legacy Raids that are very similar.
Once you have a group / raid of at least six (6) actual Players (no Mercs), hail Whizzlebang Twempt and follow along, or just try saying 'marathon' to get this raid.
Then, say 'ready' to zone into the Raid instance.
At the time this image was captured, the typo of 'Sprin' existed.
.
2) INFINITELY REGENERATIVE AUTOMATON (I.R.A.): You are here to 'test' I.R.A., which means to under a 'marathon' of round after round of battles with it.
Each round will end after I.R.A. reaches 5% health. At that point, I.R.A. will go inactive for a short time.
Use this time to recover / rebuff, because I.R.A. will use it to gain a Level!
After a bit, the next round begins!
NOTE: Originally, the time between rounds seemed to be two (2) minutes. It appears that time has been reduced, or it reduces on it's own with each round. Otherwise, the down time alone would make it impossible to get the maximum known version of the augmentation (37 rounds would mean 112 minute of down time, longer than the time allotted for this raid).
What to expect:
The more rounds your raid can defeat I.R.A., the better the aug reward. It appears that 37 rounds will get you the best known version of the aug, but why not go more rounds?
The augmentation for this raid comes is the Silver Threaded Worm Gear Model I (the lowest first Level version), on up to the Silver Threaded Worm Gear Model XXXVII (Level 37, the highest known version), depending on how man y rounds you went with I.R.A..
Once you have a group / raid of at least six (6) actual Players (no Mercs), hail Whizzlebang Twempt and follow along, or just try saying 'Sprint' to get this raid.
Then, say 'ready' to zone into the Raid instance.
.
2) INFINITELY REGENERATIVE AUTOMATON (I.R.A.): You are here to 'test' I.R.A., which means to under a 'sprint' of round after round of battles with it, to defeat I.R.A. as many times as you can.
Each round will end after I.R.A. reaches 5% health. At that point, I.R.A. will go inactive for a short time.
Use this time to recover / rebuff, because I.R.A. will use it to gain a Level!
After a bit, the next round begins!
NOTE: Originally, the time between rounds seemed to be one (1) minute. It may still be the same.
What to expect:
The more rounds your raid can defeat I.R.A., the better the aug reward. It appears that 30 rounds will get you the best known version of the aug, but why not go more rounds?
The augmentation for this raid comes is the Bronze Slant Thread Pinion Gear Model I (the lowest first Level version), on up to the Bronze Slant Thread Pinion Gear Model XXX (Level 30, the highest known version), depending on how man y rounds you went with I.R.A..
NOTE: There is some info out there about a Bronze Crystalline Oscillator Model I to a Bronze Crystalline Oscillator Model XVIII related to this raid (Purity Augs up to 25 Purity), but I have never seen this one, at all.
There is no 'loot,' otherwise.
