EVERQUEST 7TH ANNIVERSARY EVENTS
Where to find them and how to do them!
The politics of faction, requires a lot of action! - Bonzz
ANNIVERSARY LORE
There were no Anniversary Events before the 5th Year of EverQuest. However, upon the 5th Anniversary of EverQuest, a temporary, special Anniversary event was added to the game. After that, it became an annual tradition in EverQuest, with new Anniversary related events being added each year, as well as the old ones being reactivated right along beside them. Anniversary Events generally start around March 16th (EverQuest was launched March 16, 1999), and continue to as late as mid-May. There are now so many Anniversary Events that they are implemented / divided in two parts... "Modern" events (14th Anniversary and forward) and "Legacy" events (5th to 13th Anniversary). The "Legacy" events do not award Commemorative Coins, but do include Fabled MOB's (introduced in 2008). These events do not start until near mid-April. The "Modern" events start right away and generally award Commemorative Coin, which is a specialty coin that can used to buy special items with "a jubilant merchant" in the Plane of Knowledge (near the Nexus stone, and the stuff ain't cheap!). The Mechanical Fortune Teller (near the Crescent Reach stone) was added to the Plane of Knowledge, to help direct you to the events (by year), because now, there are a lot of them. Just hail her and follow along. Download and unzip this file to the 'storyline' folder of your EverQuest directory to have access to a generic, simplified version of these quests, in game, via your Story Window (Alt N)! NOTE: This file can be updated in the event of typo corrections, errors and new events, so you may need a fresh download / install every so often. |

NOTE: Some of the Collector Items are utilized in more than one of these Quests. However, they are all Lore, so you can't loot more than one at a time.
NOTE: You can do all (3) tasks, but it involves manipulating opposing Factions.
NOTE: The related Achievement is awarded by doing any one of these Quests (you do not need all three for the Achievement).
NOTE: If you plan to do more than one of these Quests, you can do them in any order, but this guide is written to follow the Thurgadin, Skyshrine and then Kael Drakkel sequence.

7th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt (Solo) (Thurgadin)
1) THURDAGIN: The Scavenger Hunt is an old-school quest (no Task Window).
Head to this zone. You are looking for Gimblak Frozensong (he should be on Find).
When you zone in, you should see an emote from him, inviting you to come talk to him.
If you do, go hail him and follow along to get a Coldain Collection Bag and a Coldain Clue Book.
The Coldain Clue Book contains some vague clues on where to go to get the items you will need. You can read it, if you like, but you don't need it, since this is laid out below (you can destroy it).
Most Players generally have the required "Amiable" faction with the Coldain, needed to do this version of the Quest.
However, if Gimblak Frozensong did not emote to you and he will not talk to you, then you need to work on Faction! Amiable Faction with the Coldain is required!
If you are a Rogue (or shroud into a Rogue), you can try the old Hide / Sneak from behind trick, but word is that this doesn't work.
If you need to work on Faction, go to Step #2. If you don't, go to Step #3.
.
2) COLDAIN FACTION: There are two things you can do (the first is optional).
If you know you have reduced your Coldain Faction, and are willing to spend 172 Loyalty Tokens (aka Crowns), you can buy a Potion of Peace: Thurgadin from Alerynril the Loyal in the Plane of Knowledge. This will restore as much as 2,000 Faction with the Coldain as well as with Dain Frostweaver IV. It will not get you to Amiable, but it can give you a big chunk of Faction towards getting to Amiable. This can save you a lot of time with Faction Grinding, which is what you have to do next.
Next, head to Kael Drakkel and slaughter the zone (except the far south section, where you don't get Coldain Faction hits for some reason).
While you are here, you may as well snatch up the Collect item you need from here (see Step #6)!
You can see your Coldain Faction in the Faction Window (EQ Button --> Character --> Faction Standings... Coldain Faction is listed under the Scars of Velious Expansion). To get to Amiable Faction, you need to a about +751 Faction (hover over the "Standing" bar to see your numbers). Coldain hits in this zone are about (5) per kill, so, one good session here should do it for you (at higher Character Levels).
When you have the right Faction, you can repeat Step #1 and then jump to Step #3, below (or wait until you have all the items, then do Step #1, Step #13 and then Step #14... in that order).
.
3) VELKETOR'S LABYRINTH: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Ice Sculpture, that drops from Kobolds. I had the best luck down in the basement area.
.
4) GREAT DIVIDE: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Tizmak Horn, that drops from Tizmaks (in the caves to the west).
.
5) EASTERN WASTES: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Snow Bunny Foot. They drop from Snow Bunnies. They seem few and far between, but they are here.
.
6) KAEL DRAKKEL: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Kromrif Signet, that drops from Kromrif Giants.
If you all ready have one (from Step #2), skip to Step #7.
.
7) ICECLAD OCEAN: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Cougar Tail, that drops from Cougars, (near the Tower of Frozen Shadow zone).
.
8) CRYSTAL CAVERNS: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Ry'Gorr Mining Pick, that drops from Orcs.
.
9) COBALT SCAR: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Wyvern Claw, that drops from Wyverns, near the Skyshrine zone.
.
10) SIREN'S GROTTO: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Lock of Mermaid Hair, that drops from the Neriad Mermaids (from Cobalt Scar, jump in the water and head to the right).
.
11) WESTERN WASTES: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Brontotherium Hoof, that drops from a Brontotheriums.
.
12) DRAGON NECROPOLIS: Head to this zone.
You are here looking for a Collector's Chetari Ceremonial Staff, that drops from Chetari Rats, in the underground caves.
.
13) COMBINE: Put all (10) of the items you collected inside the Coldain Collection Bag and combine them to make a Sealed Coldain Collection Bag.
.
14) THURGADIN: Head back to Gimblak Frozensong and give him the Sealed Coldain Collection Bag to finish up!
He will give you the Coldain Pikestaff of the Steadfast (a fireworks clickie).
If this is the first 7th Anniversary quest you have done, you will also get the Achievement: 7th Anniversary Task.

1) SKYSHRINE: The Scavenger Hunt is an old-school quest (no Task Window).
Head to this zone. You are looking for Tilanar Fe`Dhar (he should be on Find, but even so, you have to wend your way to the maze, through the maze, click then click the globe to get to him).
When you zone in, you should see an emote from him, inviting you to come talk to him.
If you do, go hail him and follow along to get a Scaled Collection Bag and a Scaled Clue Book.
The Scaled Clue Book contains some vague clues on where to go to get the items you will need. You can read it, if you like, but you don't need it, since this is laid out below (you can destroy it).
However, if Tilanar Fe`Dhar did not emote to you and he will not talk to you, then you need to work on Faction! Amiable Faction with the Claws of Veeshan is required!
If you are a Rogue (or shroud into a Rogue), you can try the old Hide / Sneak from behind trick, but word is that this doesn't work.
If you need to work on Faction, go to Step #2. If you don't, go to Step #3.
.
2) CLAWS OF VEESHAN FACTION: There are two things you can do (the first is optional).

This will restore as much as 2,000 Faction with the Claws of Veeshan. It will not get you to Amiable, but it can give you a big chunk of Faction towards getting to Amiable. This can save you time with Faction Grinding, which is what you have to do next.
Next, head to Kael Drakkel and slaughter the zone (anywhere, this time).
While you are here, you may as well snatch up the Collect item you need from here (see Step #3)! In fact, you may want to do Step #3 as well, to save a little run around time.
You can see your Claws of Veeshan Faction in the Faction Window (EQ Button --> Character --> Faction Standings... Claws of Veeshan Faction is listed under the Scars of Velious Expansion). To get to Amiable Faction, you need to a about +751 Faction (hover over the "Standing" bar to see your numbers). Claws of Veeshan hits vary this zone, but the Giants in the very south seem to give the best hits (+25 at time for some of them), so, one good session here should do it for you (at higher Character Levels).
When you have the right Faction, make, since you are here, you may want to do Step #3 & Step #4 now. Then you can repeat Step #1 and then jump to Step #5. Or better -- just wait until you have all the items, then do Step #1, Step #13 and then Step #14... in that order).
