AK'ANON STRIKE FORCE V BLACK BADGE

aka Spy Reports

This is an involved task/quest for a very nice Aug.

It will take some significant help (group, possibly mini-raids) to get it accomplished!

You can pre-loot some items for this task, in fact, I strongly recommend that you do this, to save time.

Even better, this task not only awards a nice Aug, but just about 5AA in XP!

..

Ak'Anon Strike Force V Black Badge: 5 AC, 5 CHA, CORRUPTION 5, AVOIDANCE 5, 135 HP, 135 END, 135 MANA, Weight 0.0; Type 7 or 8 Slot; Chest, Head, Shoulders; Required Level 75.

.

STATUS: Completed and confirmed to Step 17.

.......................................................

THE QUEST

1) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: You are looking for Spymaster Gurtrude (Level 80).

She is located in the gnome camp, inside a tent.

Hail her and follow along, or just try saying "Alone," and choose the task called "Spy Reports."

NOTE: You must have completed her first three tasks ("Disable the Recycler," "Supplies for Spies" & "A Slave to Grind"), before this task will be offered to you. These tasks are part of another series of tasks for a different augmentation. Click here for details.

.

2) You are now looking for An Inconspicuous Mechanic (Level 78), who can be found inside the blimp (area of n1042, p1566). This is "Agent Starm," in disguise.

You will need a good group to clear your way in, as there are see invis MOB's here.

Once you get to the Mechanic, hail for a task update (you can do the hail while invis).

You can then follow along (key phrases are "Contact," "Repair" and "Huttle"), but it is not required (you will have to drop invis to follow along).

.

3) Now you are looking for Siege Inspector Huttle (Level 76).

He roams about the catapults (down below the blimp).

You goal here is to follow him around for about ten (10) to twenty (20) minutes.

You can do this if you are invis and very careful to avoid any see invis MOB's.

The hard part is in NOT getting too close to him. He will stop every so often and you will see an emote.

If you are too close, he will wonder if someone is spying on him and warp away (if this happens, just find him again and start following him again).

Basically, you need to be close enough to hear Huttle speak, but far enough away that he will not sense your presence. This is a closer distance than you may think.

In any case, you will need to get a total of six (6) emotes about you writing something down.

If you are successful, you will eventually obtain Siege Engine Inspection Notes (No Trade, Lore, Weight 0.4).

It will appear on your cursor.

.

4) Now you have to get back to An Inconspicuous Mechanic and turn in the  Siege Engine Inspection Notes, for a task update.

Once again, you will need a capable group to clear your way in.

.

5) Now head back to Gurtrude and hail her for a task update.

.

6) STEAM FACTORY: You are here looking for A Fan Mechanic (Level 81), who is really "Agent Cogly," in disguise.

He located in the area of n930, n690. This is in the far southeast corner of the zone, just before the dead end.

There are no MOB's here, so it is fully safe to speak with him.

Hail him for a task update.

You can follow along if you wish, but it is not required.

.

7) Now you need to locate/obtain the four (4) items needed.as follows (all of these items can be pre-looted):

NOTE: Only one (1) person in the group actually needs these items! See Step 10 notes!

.

8) Once you have all four (4) pieces, head back to A Fan Mechanic and give him the four (4) items.

He will give you a Miscalibrated Clockwork Driveshaft (No Trade, Lore, Weight 3.0).

NOTE: Only one (1) person in the group actually needs this items! See Step 10 notes!

.

9) You will again need a capable group.

NOTE: Before you do this step, you may want to clear the area of MOB's, especially at the west end of the ramp.

You are looking for A Deactivated Steamwork (Level 81).

It is located in the center conveyor belt room, hidden behind/under a ramp (area of p500, n82... on the southwest side).

It is KoS, but will not attack and cannot be attacked.

Give it the Miscalibrated Clockwork Driveshaft.

NOTE: Only one (1) person in the group actually needs to do this! See Step 10 notes!

.

10) A Deactivated Steamwork will then wonder off (do not follow him).

Head Engineer Gearwhir (Level 83) will spawn and meet him.

You now need to pull and kill Gearwhir.

He hits for up to 2.5K, summons, snares, can be mezzed and spawns four (4) A Miniature Steamwork (light blue at Level 80).

The adds hit for up to 1.5K and can be mezzed and are low HP (easy to kill). Just keep them mezzed and kill Gearwhir first.

Once he is dead, you need to loot a Steam Factory Work Schedule (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1), for a task update.

STRATEGY NOTE: Pull and clear from the hall that leads to the destroyed area west of the conveyor belt room.

SHORT CUT: So long as one person in the group has the Miscalibrated Clockwork Driveshaft, everyone else can actually skip Steps 7, 8 & 9, as Gearwhir drops six (6) of the Steam Factory Work Schedule and the whole group gets credit for the kill.

11) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: Now head back to Gurtrude and give her the Steam Factory Work Schedule for a task update.

.

12) STEAM FACTORY: You are here for a location update, in the area of p1270, p560.

This is in the northeast of the zone.

You need to go to the far north east (past Meldrath's Mansion), then east over the catwalk to get here.

When you reach the right spot (center of room), you will get an emote and a task update.

.

13) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: Now head back to Gurtrude and hail her for another task update.

.

14) You are now looking for Engineer Brinik (Level 78).

He is up on the hill, not too far from Gurtrude (behind the camp).

Hail him for a task update.

.

15) STEAM FACTORY: You are here looking for A Furnace Engineer (Level 81), who is really "Agent Weagle." He is in the "Engineer" room, just south of the Meldrath's Mansion entrance, in the north east of the zone.

NOTE: You may want to clear the An Enhanced Steamsuit (Level 84) on the upper walkways at the foundry, before you start this, as they are the only "regular" MOB's that will aggro A Furnace Engineer and they will not mez. This area is on the catwalk before the above step (Step 12).

NOTE: This may take an accomplished group or a mini raid.

NOTE: You will have to do this step for each individual person with the task (it does not work for the entire group).

He is located in the "engineering facility" (east side of map, just south of Meldrath's zone line).

He is non-aggro, but the other MOB's in the room are.

You need to clear enough so that you can hail him and say, "I am ready."

At that point he will start walking off. Your job is to keep him alive, along the way. He will walk from his current location to the north west room (where you got the update in Step 12).

Normal trash MOB's will not aggro him, so you can invis past those areas.

In the corridors, one (1) or two (2) A Security Enforcer (Level 81) will sometimes spawn. Good news is, they only spawn in areas where there will be no social aggro.

They seem to always appear and walk up from behind, so watch the rear for them.

They can be mezzed, as can A Furnace Engineer.

It is a good idea to keep A Furnace Engineer mezzed while you kill them, so he doesn't get ahead of you.

Mind wipe him as well, before mezz breaks.

.

16) Once A Furnace Engineer reaches the north west room, the person who activated the event needs to hail him for a task update.

.

17) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: Now head back to Gurtrude and hail her for a task update.

.

18) GYROSPIRE ZEKA: You are looking for An Iron Gardener (Level 80 to 82). This is "Agent Gibblin" in disguise.

He is located in the "garden" area, to the left, after you zone in (beware see invis).

Hail him for an update.
