MODEL XLII SPATIAL TEMPORAL OCULUS

This is a quest added with the Secrets of Faydwer expansion that involves completing 23 Tasks.

There are a number of tasks in the various zones that award a "mechanical part" item. Eventually, these parts combine into a face-only augmentation.

The only set back to this, for Paladins, is the negative four (-4) to Wisdom.

The quest is outlined below, as a matter of zone convenience and bag/bank space, but you can do any of the tasks in any order. The combines, however, have a set sequence.

NOTE: To save bag space, you may not want to actually claim your task rewards until you are ready. Just remember, you can only have ten (10) unclaimed rewards at a time. If you have more than that, and camp, you loose one or more task rewards.

NOTE: Some combines not only return the new item, but some of the items used to make it. Unless I say otherwise, hold on to all these items... do not destroy them.

THE QUEST

1) DRAGONSCALE HILLS: You need to find the gnome camp in the north part of the zone, near the Steamfont zone line.

You want to get four (4) tasks from this camp, as follows:

NOTE: I am pretty sure I only had to do one version of the "Farm Clean-Up" from Sigglik, but I now hear that all three (Doombugs, Crows and Scarecrows) must be accomplished to get the desired reward. If this is the case, you will have to complete seven (7) tasks, not five (5) tasks. I suggest doing all three anyway, if you have the task space, as they involve the same "camp" and you will be killing the MOB's for all three anyway.... plus it is good faction and extra XP!

.

2) Now head directly east and find Darwin (Level 80), on a little structure there.

Speak to him (key phrase, "Help assist you") and get the task called "Darwin's Award."

.

3) Now directly south of you is a plowed field, known as the "Farm" to most players.

Set up camp there and you can pull and kill everything you need, for all five (5) tasks.

Here at the "farm" you will need to kill or loot the following (MOB's are generally Level 68 to 72):

.

4) Now head to the moat area around the port in area (main windmill).

Here you need to kill "nymph" type MOB's (all Level 68 to 72) until you loot ten (10) Nymph Wing (No Trade, Weight 0.8) ("I Can Fly").

.

5) Now head to the Minotaur fort area, in the mid-west area of the zone, by the pond (across from the port in windmill).

Using invisible (take some potions or a helper), sneak into the fort and make your way into the tunnels behind it.

There you can find ground spawns (through out this area) of Levitation Crystal (No Trade, Weight 0.8) ("Darwin's Award").

You will need to pick up eight (8) of them.

They have a respawn time of five (5) to ten (10) minutes, but they can also drop off the MOB's here, if you want to kill them.

6) Now head to the far north west area of the zone.

In the middle of the steamworks there, is a brownish looking patch of ground.

Use the Bobbenpin's Banner (put in main inventory slot and right click) to plant the banner at this location ("Construction Junction, What's Your Function?").

You may need to clear the area of MOB's.

.

7) LOPING PLAINS: Head to the inner (center) area near the druid rings.

In the southern part of this area is an undead camp.

Using IVU, explore the camp and tents for six (6) ground spawns called a Piece of Canvas (No Trade, Weight 0.8) ("Darwin's Award").

They have a respawn time between five (5) and ten (10) minutes.

.

8) DRAGONSCALE HILLS: Now go back and hail and/or turn in the required items (the items you looted or picked up) to each of the five (5) task givers (see Step 1) and claim your rewards.

Your task rewards, in order, should be:

NOTE: If the Sigglik task ("Farm Clean-up") does not offer you the item noted above, you will also have to compete his other two tasks ("Farm Clean-Up -- Crows" and "Farm Clean-Up -- Scarecrows").

TOP

.

9) Head over to the "cannon" to find Automated Vending Unit II (Level 80).

NOTE: You need a bag slot open for this step!

Hopefully, by this point, you have become at least indifferent to him (he is on the faction of Ak'Anon Strike Force V), otherwise he will not sell to you. If he wont sell to you, you need to work on faction some more in order to do this step later (for the combines).

If he will sell to you, then buy from him the T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit  (No Trade, 5-Slot Giant, 0% Weight Reduction, Weight 0.1).

NOTE: He also sells the T. Bildarol's Lost Notebook (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1), which reveals the combines for this quest, albeit in a very confusing manner.

.

10) COMBINE #1: Now, combine the five items from above (see Step 8) inside the Toolkit, to make Intraternal Timing Control Mechanism (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

You will also get the Control Setting Gears I, II, III, IV, and VII back, but you can dump it, as you will not need it again.

TOP

.

11) Now turn to Overvolt Rigster IV (Level 80), right there near the cannon.

Form a high-end capable group and plan on several hours of adventure (one of these is a group missions).

Hail him and follow along to get four solos tasks and one group mission, as follows:

He will give you a Fuzzlecutter Motivator 5000 (Weight 0.3) and a Hypo-Mechanical Cartographical Scanner (No Trade, Weight 0.3).

Keep them, you will need both.

.

12) THE MECHAMATIC GUARDIAN: As it turns out, this giant robot (Level 90-plus) roaming Dragonscale Hills, is a walking zone.

Gaining access to this zone is via, Overvolt Rigster IV (Level 80).

One group mission he gives is called, "Adventure in The Mechamatic Guardian (key phrase, "Head into).

This mission will allow you to enter the zone for six (6) hours. This mission is nothing more than zone access, with the entire zone fully spawned.

However, he also offers a progressive series of tasks that are better suited (easier) for these tasks, plus they also "kill two birds with one stone," as these other missions are related to another quest series (click here for details).

One major reason these progressive tasks (meaning you have to do them in order), is that they each start at a different point (level) in the zone.

Anyway, once you have one of the missions, it will allow you to run up to the right foot of The Mechamatic Guardian (Level 95) right foot and zone in (you will get a window to choose "Enter" or be "Kicked" -- choose enter, of course).

Once inside, basically kill everything in sight and gradually make your way into the zone (and to win the mission, if you chose the mission route).

This can and will take a while, especially if all group members need looted items.

It will likely take more than one excursion to get all of this accomplished.

You are here to:

.

13) DRAGONSCALE HILLS: Head back to Overvolt.

Do your turn-ins (looted items and the Hypo-Mechanical Cartographical Scanner) and then hail him to complete theses tasks.

Your task rewards, in order, should be:

TOP

.

14) COMBINE #2: Inside T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit, combine Vertical Rotational Cam III (Step 13) and Horizontal Rotational Cam IV (Step 13) to make a Two Dimensional Rotational Cam Pivot (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

TOP

.

15) COMBINE #3: Now combine the Two Dimensional Rotational Cam (Step 14) with the Temporal Pinion XXXVIII (Step 13) and the Depth Field Prototype Pinion I (Step 13) to make a Three Dimensional Rotational Cam (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

TOP

.

16) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: Find Engineer Springfap (Level 80), who is in the same camp near the zone in.

Hail him and follow along to get the task called, "Power Station Blueprints," (key phrase, "Useful").

.

17) Now find Tavik Gearpaq (Level 80), in that same camp.

Hail him and follow along, or just try saying, "Willing," to get the task called, "Alloy Sampling."

.

18) Now find Clockwork Warmarshal (Level  83), also in that same camp.

Hail and following along (key phrase, "Accept Orders"), and get the task called, "Breaking Things Down."

.

19) Find Pyrotechnician Flizcog, right there in the same camp.

WARNING: This task has a 2-Hour time limit! It may be best done with a group.

Hail him and follow along, to get the task called, "Destroying the Competition," key phrase "I'll volunteer."

I suggest leaving a campfire at this location, if possible, so you can gate right back, if time runs short!

He will give you Automated Incendiary Device Mark XIV (No Trade, Weight 0.8, Clicky Effect: 10 charges of "Flint Spark").

.

20) THE STEAM FACTORY: You are here to accomplish several tasks (from above) at the same time.

However, you only have two hours and ten seconds to get the task "Destroying the Competition" done!

Give this task absolute priority, for now, but along the way, drops and/or kills for the other tasks may also be accomplished.

It is pretty easy to run about this zone while invisible, so long as you don't get too close to named MOB's.

The task involves getting five (5) location updates and "setting" five (5) bombs (right click the Automated Incendiary Device Mark XIV)Setting the explosives requires you to click the Automated Incendiary Device Mark XIV, which casts a spell (5-second cast time) and drops your invisible buff, so you may want to clear the area first, each time.

Basically, when you get to the right spot, you will get a task update. Then setting the bomb in that same place will get you another update.

You have only ten charges (bombs), so you have five extra "bombs," should you fail on some.

.

21) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: Head back and do the final hails and turn-ins with the related NPC's.

You should get:

NOTE: Due to a timer, you may have to finish "Destroying the Competition" first... and then go back to finish the rest.

TOP

.

22) COMBINE #4: Inside T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit, combine the Right Curved Spatial Adjuster (Step 21), the Inverted Left Curved Spatial Adjuster (Step 21) and the Three Dimensional Rotational Cam (Step 15) to make a Four Dimensional Rotational Cam (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

You will also get back another Vertical Rotational Cam III (see Step 13) and a Horizontal Rotational Cam IV (see Step 13).

Hang on to them, you will need them!

TOP

.

23) COMBINE #5: Now combine the Vertical Rotational Cam III (Step 22), the Horizontal Rotational Cam IV (Step 22), the Intraternal Timing Control Mechanism (Step 10) and the Four Dimensional Rotational Cam (Step 22) inside the T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit, to make a Convex Focal Disc Mark II (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

Hang on to it, you will need it!

TOP

.

24) Now talk to Tavik Gearpaq, again.

Follow along (key phrase, "Assisting") and get the task called, "Stopping Production."

He will give you three (3) Tainted Crystal (No Trade, Weight 0.3).

NOTE: This event is on a 60-minute timer! I suggest leaving a campfire here so you can gate back, should time run short.

.

25) THE STEAM FACTORY: If you still need some things from Step 20, you can indirectly work on those again in the process of doing this.

WARNING!: You are here to primarily pursue the "Stopping Production" task, as it is on a one-hour time limit.

Head back to the center room where the conveyor belt is.

Drop down to the southeast side of the conveyor belt, as before.

You will have to clear the area of MOB's.

You are here to do the following:

NOTE: You can click the boxes while invisible.

.

26) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: Head back to Tavik Gearpaq.

Hail him to complete this task and claim your reward:

TOP

.

27) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: You are looking for Clockwork Warmarshal (Level  83), again.

Hail him and follow along, or just try saying, "Accept orders," to get the task called "Endless Enemies."

Repeat the process and get the task called "Switching Gears."

Repeat the process and get the task called "Hunt A Spy."

NOTE: If you are not offered "Hunt a Spy," you may have to complete the other two tasks (noted above) first, before he will offer it to you.

NOTE: If more than one person needs this task, only one in the group will be able to do it at a time.

He will give you a Mechano-Tool Kit (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.8; Effect: "Swap Cog").

.

28) In that same camp, in a tent, look for Gurtrude the Spymaster (Level 80).

Hail her and follow along to get the following four (4) tasks (key phrase, "Alone"):

.

29) Now look for Tabazin Gearfinger (Level 75), hidden away in the wreckage behind where Clockwork Warmarshal is located.

Hail him and follow along (key phrase, "Screws") to get the task called, "Screw Loose."

He will give you a Sonic Screwdriver (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.8, Clicky effect: Remove Bolt).

.

30) In the process of the next several steps, you can also work on everything in this step. To be clear, you can continue to Step 31 and consider Step 30 as "in progress" as you go along (to save time).

If this step is not accomplished by the time you finish Step 37, you will need to come back and finish this step, fully.

In this same zone, you need to kill assorted MOB's, loot certain items and use Mechano-Tool Kit, as follows:

.

31) Now head up the first set of elevators, with invisible.

Off down the right side path, A Steamwork Spy (Level 76) will spawn and start walking.

You need to catch up to him and then time it just right so you can drop invisible and hail him (to avoid aggro of other pathing MOB's).

After you hail him, re-invis. A Steamwork Spy will feign death and lay there for a short time. Stay with him until he despawns for a task update ("Hunt A Spy").

.

32) Now head up the next set of elevators.

At the top, head down the left path to the dead end.

Once there it would be a good idea to kill any roamers. Once done, you need to invis again and inch your way into the first building on your right, until you see A Steamwork Spy and four (4) A Steamwork Skitterer (Level 76 to 78).

As they start pathing, try to pull off one or more of the A Steamwork Skitterer and kill them.

Otherwise, head to the next set of "up" elevators and wait for them there (that's where they are all going).

Kill all four of the A Steamwork Skitterer as quick as possible.

Once they are dead, stay right on top of A Steamwork Spy until he despawns (about 30-seconds), for a task update ("Hunt A Spy").

If you fail this, you will have to try this step again.

.

33) Now, head up the next set of elevators.

At the top, set up "camp" just to the right of the elevators.

You need to pull and kill the two (2) A Steamwork Guardian Model I (Level 84), (they spawn near the zone to Meldrath's Majestic Mansion) for a task update ("Hunt A Spy").

.

34) After they are dead, pull and kill A Steamwork Spy, who was feigning death near the entrance to Meldrath's Majestic Mansion.

After he is dead, loot the Spy's Black Box (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.8), for another update ("Hunt a Spy").

.

35) Now head off down the east path and go down the elevators at the far end.

While this step can be done with very good timing and invis, it is better to just clear the roaming MOB's.

You need to "remove" four (4) Structural Support Bolt (No Trade, Weight 0.8), using the Sonic Screwdriver.

This accomplished by going to the appropriate structure, standing right up on the strut, and clicking the Sonic Screwdriver (10-second cast).

Pull and kill MOBs that in the way and use the Sonic Screwdriver at the following locations, in order:

.

36) Now go back up the elevators, follow the path all the way around to the west and then go down the elevators on that side.

You will need to use the Sonic Screwdriver and obtain six (6) more Structural Support Bolt in this area, just as above.

The locations, in order, are:

NOTE: You should now have ten (10) Structural Support Bolt.

.

37) Now, on that same structure you just took the screws from (no worries, LOL), climb the ladder to the top.

NOTE: It is very likely that only one person can do this task at a time ("Disable the Recycler"), to avoid multiple spawns. This is unclear. There does, however, seem to be a short lock-out timer on repeating this task (40-ish minutes).

Once at the top, three A Steamwork Skitter (Level 76 to 78) will spawn about center of the platform.

It is best to kill the other MOB's on the platform first, to avoid a train. Then pull and kill the three A Steamwork Skitter.

Once they are dead, three (3) A Steamwork Reaver (Level 76 to 78) will spawn in the same place. You need to kill them as well.

After they are dead, Waste Management Director (Level 82), will spawn in that same area. He also must be killed, for the task update ("Disable the Recycler").

NOTE: This step will actually complete the "Disable the Recycler" task. There is no item reward, as it is one of two (2) required tasks (See Step 38).

.

38) Head back to Clockwork Warmarshal .

NOTE: If you did not finish Step 30 yet, you need to go back and finish that step before you do this step.

Hail him and give give him the Spy's Black Box, to complete three (3) tasks and claim your rewards as follows:

TOP

.

39) Go back to Gurtrude.

Hail her to finish the task "A Slave to Grind" and claim your reward:

TOP

.

40) Go back to Tabazin Gearfinger.

Give him the ten (10) Structural Support Bolt and the Sonic Screwdriver, to complete the task "Screw Loose" and claim your reward:

TOP

.

41) COMBINE #6: Inside T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit, combine the Zeka Clockwise Capping Rotator (Step 38), the Zeka Counterclockwise Capping Rotator (Step 38) and the Forwards Axis Spring IV (Step 21) to make a Zeka Stabilized Rotator (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

TOP

.

42) COMBINE #7: Inside T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit, combine the Beza Clockwise Capping Rotator (Step 40), the Beza Counterclockwise Capping Rotator (Step 39) and the Sidewards Axis Spring LXIII (Step 21) to make a Beza Stabilized Rotator (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

.

43) CRESCENT REACH: You are here looking for Geerlok Clockwork Merchant IV (Level 75).

He is in the back area, in the room behind the bankers.

Buy from him the following items:

.

44) GYROSPIRE BEZA: You are here looking for A Steamwork Spy MK-IV (Level 80).

He is around the right side, on the edge. If you are careful, you can get to him with invis.

Hail him and give him the Grease for a task update ("Supplies for Spies").

.

45) GYROSPIRE ZEKA: You are here looking for A Steamwork Spy MK-V (Level 80).

He is around the left side, on the edge. If you are careful, you can get to him with invis.

Hail him and give him the Metal Twine for a task update ("Supplies for Spies").

.

46) S.H.I.P. WORKSHOP: You are looking for A Steamwork Spy MK-I (Level 76 to 78), who is right there at the zone in.

Hail him and follow along and give him the Battery Casing 3 for task updates ("Supplies for Spies" and "Disrupt the Workshop").

He will illusion you to look like a steamwork, so you can move about the zone safely... just avoid any named MOB's.

.

47) Head up to the third floor, in the northern room and then use the elevator down to the second floor (area of p904, p606).

You are looking for A Steamwork Spy MK-II (Level 76 to 78).

Hail him for a task update.

.

48) Head to the upper level (all the way up) and go out on the "balcony" to the right (area of p250, p357).

You are looking for A Steamwork Spy MK-III (Level 76 to 79).

Hail him for a task update.

.

49) Head back down to the second floor, to the south room and then up the elevator (area of p70, p600).

Once at the top, veer to the right to the corner.

You will need to clear a few MOB's for some breathing room.

Once done, have each person with the task, one a time, invis, step towards the center of the room to spawn Power Operations Manager (Level 84).

You need to kill him and loot the Power Stabilization Notes (No Trade, Lore, Weight 0.8).

You can repeat this process for each person in the group who needs it ("Disrupt the Workshop").

.

50) Head back to A Steamwork Spy MK-III.

Give him the Power Stabilization Notes, for a task update ("Disrupt the Workshop").

.

51) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: You are looking for A Steamwork Spy MK-VI (Level 77).

He is in the area of p532, p1323, by a tree near the S.H.I.P. zone line.

There may some MOB's near him you need to kill first.

Once clear, give him the Contraption Parts, for a task update ("Supplies for Spies").

.

52) THE STEAM FACTORY: You are here looking for A Steamwork Spy MK-VII (Level 77).

He is in the area of n679, p635, which is the "clover" shaped area where the four "turbines" are on the east side of the zone.

Using invis, run into this area to spawn him along with (Guards - anyone advise their proper name?) (Level 81+), for a task update ("Supplies for Spies.").

All group members can do this, it will not spawn multiple MOB's.

Once down head back into the adjoining hall and pull clear MOB's until you are able to pull and kill the two (2) (Guards).

.

53) Once done, invis and run back in past where A Steamwork Spy MK-VII spawned, down near the lower far (north) wall (ramp), for another task update ("Supplies for Spies").

This will actually complete the task, "Supplies for Spies." There will be no reward item, as it is one of two (2) required tasks (See Step 54).

.

54) FORTRESS MECHANOTUS: Head back to Gurtrude.

Hail her to complete "Disrupt the Workshop and claim the reward:

.

55) COMBINE #8: Inside T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit, combine the Azia Clockwise Capping Rotator (Step 38), the Azia Counterclockwise Capping Rotator (Step 53) and the Upwards Axis Spring LXIII (Step 26) to make a Azia Stabilized Rotator (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

TOP

.

56) LOPING PLAINS: You need to find Miggletik Biggerton (Level 80) (at the camp near the zone in).

Hail him and follow along (key word, "Interested"), to get the task called, "Creepfeet Thievery."

.

57) You now need to accomplish the following:

.

58) Head back to Miggletik.

Give him the Broken Deathcloud Amulet to finish this task ("Creepfeet Thievery").

The task reward is a Concave Focal Disc Mark I (Lore, No Trade, Weight 0.1).

TOP

.

59) FINAL COMBINE!: Inside T. Bildarol's Missing Toolkit, combine the Concave Focal Disc Mark I (Step 58), the Convex Focal Disc Mark II (Step 23), the Zeka Stabilized Rotator (Step 41), the Azia Stabilized Rotator (Step 55) and the Beza Stabilized Rotator (Step 42) to make the Model XLII Spatial Temporal Oculus!

Gratz!
