FESTIVAL OF SHADOW
Where to find them and how to do them!
While it surely sounds unconventional... in the shadows I found a festival! - Bonzz
The Festival of Shadows was added in 2026 as an annual Holiday Event.
"The Festival of Shadow is upon us! It is the time of year for shadows to grow longer and the moon to shine at its fullest. Take this time to bake your cakes and rejoice with the inhabitants of Luclin."
The Festival of Shadows normally takes place around early September to early October, each year.
It seems to be related to the end of summer (start of Fall / Autumn) and celebrating the fall harvest and / or full moon... of which there are many real-life similar events around the world... even if they do not take place during the same time frames.
NOTE: The 'lore' on this event is currently problematic, in my opionion. After all, Luclin is 'hidden' in shadow and can NOT be seen from Norrath. Thus, it does not 'shine at its fullest' -- or shine at all, for that matter!

1) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: You are looking for Basia, Shadow Murmurer, who is down in the mid-sout by the spires (/waypoint -3825, 1080).
Hail Basia, Shadow Murmurer and follow along, or just try saying 'Grab it' to get this task.
NOTE: If, for whatever reason, invisible doesn't work for you and faction becomes an issue ('Kill on Sight'), perhaps a Persona can change that for you. Otherwise... factioning may be required!
NOTE: You can bind near Basia, Shadow Murmurer, if you want to.
NOTE: You can get the first two (2) tasks at the same time., but they do follow different paths (zones).
NOTE: This task may vary due to Character Level, but otherwise, should be VERY similar, if it does.
This outline is for the 70+ version.

2) WEST FREEPORT: You are here to acquire Star Catcher Gauntlets.
Head to the top floor in the Temple of Marr (/waypoint 1470, -1565, -70).
When you are in the right place you will see an emote: 'This looks like the right place to pray for the Star Catcher Gauntlets.'
Next, /kneel (to pray) and you should see another emote ('Your prayers have been found questionable; however, you did not steal. You have recieved the Star Catcher Gauntlets.') and get the Star Catcher Gauntlets on your cursor.

3) ICEFALL GLACIER: You are here to acquire a Moonlight Kissed Ice.
Head to the top of the frozen waterfall (glacier) to the northeast.
Run about the area of /waypoint -190, -595, 95.
When you hit the right spot, a Moonlight Kissed Ice will appear on your cursor.
Next, you need to find a 'place of power' to warm the Moonlight Kissed Ice and turn it into (Water).
Head to the base of the Wizard spire in the north west (area of /waypoint 2185, 1125, 30).
When you hit the right spot, the Moonlight Kissed Ice will disappear from inventory and you get a Moonlight Kissed Water.

4) BLACKBURROW: You are here to acquire a Stone Carved Norrath Globe.
Head to the upper side, by the center pit.
On the side of the pit there is stump with a blue-ish collect on top of it.
Pick it up for a task update... its the Stone Carved Norrath Globe.

5) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: Head back to Basia, Shadow Murmurer.
Give her the Star Catcher Gauntlets, Moonlight Kissed Water and the Stone Carved Norrath Globe, then hail her and follow along if needed.
You will get Blessed Star Catcher Gauntlets, that have a click called 'Use the gloves to catch a fallen star.'

6) QEYNOS HILLS: You are here to 'Find' a fallen star.
Head to the guard tower near the path that leads towards The Western Plains of Karana, in the area of /waypoint 1055, -1010, 35.
When you are the at the right spot, you will see an emote, 'You have found the fallen star, get ready to catch it.'
NOTE: It may need to be night time for this to work.
Nearby, you should see a fallen star (it looks like a yellow wisp).
Target a fallen star... move real close to it... and then click your Blessed Star Catcher Gauntlets on it, to catch a Fallen Star (the Blessed Star Catcher Gauntlets will poof).

7) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: Head back to Basia, Shadow Murmurer.
Give her the Fallen Star, then hail her and follow along if needed, to finish up.
Rewards include a Ball of Violet Yarn (placeable, see top of page) and two (2) Lunar Cake (noob stat food).
1) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: You are looking for Basia, Shadow Murmurer (/waypoint -3825, 1080).

2) THE BROODLANDS: You are here to find as place 'along the shore with a view of the Accursed Nest, to howl at the moon.
It needs to be after 7-ish PM Game time (night) in order to do this.
Head to the southeast side of the center lake in the area of /waypoint -305, 590, 25.
If it is daytime and you find the right location, you will see this emote: 'You feel the need to let out a howl but calm yourself since the moon isn't out yet.' (You will need to wait for night time for the update.)
Once you are in the right place, at night Time, you will see an emote and get a task update ('You see the moon and feel the need to let out a howl. You let out a howl to sing praises to the moon.').
Next, look around, nearby (area of /waypoint -285, 625, 25) for a ground spawn (it looks like a blue-ish collect).
Pick it up for a task update... it's a Shard of Luclinite.

3) SUNDEROCK SPRINGS: You are here to find as place 'among the mist drakes,' to howl at the moon.
It needs to be after 7-ish PM Game Time (night) in order to do this.
Head to the 'mist drake' area on top of the southeast plateau in the area of /waypoint -2700, -795, 210.
If it is daytime and you find the right location, you will see this emote: 'You feel the ned to let out a howl but calm yourself since the moon isn't out yet.' (You will need to wait for night time for the update.)
Once you are in the right place, at night time, you will see an emote and get a task update ('You see the moon and feel the need to let out a howl. You let out a howl to sing praises to the moon.').
Next, look around, nearby (area of /waypoint -2605, -865, 210) for a ground spawn (it looks like a blue-ish collect).
Pick it up for a task update... it's a Shard of Luclinite.

4) NATIMBI, THE BROKEN SHORES: You are here to find as place on a hillside with a view of the sea, to howl at the moon.
It needs to be after 7-ish PM Game Time (night) in order to do this.
Head across the water channel and to the center-ish area of the hill in the area of /waypoint -160, -490, 500 (this location may sound wrong based on the task hint, but if you look in the right direction you can see the sea... and you are on a hill side).
If it is daytime and you find the right location, you will see this emote: 'You feel the ned to let out a howl but calm yourself since the moon isn't out yet.' (You will need to wait for night time for the update.)
Once you are in the right place, at night time, you will see an emote and get a task update ('You see the moon and feel the need to let out a howl. You let out a howl to sing praises to the moon.').
Next, look around, nearby (area of /waypoint -90, -400, 500) for a ground spawn (it looks like a blue-ish collect).
Pick it up for a task update... it's a Shard of Luclinite.

5) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: Head back to Basia, Shadow Murmurer.
Beside Basia, Shadow Murmurer, you will see Roald, Shadow Reaper.
Give the three (3) different Shard of Luclinite to Roald, Shadow Reaper.
Now you need to find the last 'moon rock' to the 'east.'
So, as before (at night) head east to the area of /waypoint -3260, -315.
When you get to the right spot, at night, you will see an emote: 'The moon fills you with joy and you let out a howl to honor the moon.'
Next, look around, nearby (area of /waypoint -3310, -340) for a ground spawn (it looks like a blue-ish collect).
Pick it up for a task update... it's Luclin's Favor.
Head back to Roald, Shadow Reaper and give him Luclin's Favor.
Lastly, hail Roald, Shadow Reaper and follow along, if needed, to finish up.
Rewards include a Fancy Pet Pillow (placeable, see top of page) and two (2) Lunar Cake (noob stat food).
1) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: You are looking for Basia, Shadow Murmurer (/waypoint -3825, 1080).
After the previous two (2) tasks are done, hail Basia, Shadow Murmurer and follow along, or just try saying 'Tell Him' to get this task.
NOTE: This task may vary due to Character Level, but otherwise, should be VERY similar, if it does.
This outline is for the 120+ version.

2) RUINS OF SHADOW HAVEN: You are here to get a couple of updates.
First, head to the area of the Nexus Portal pool (/waypoint -185, 930, -55) for an update. When you get to the right place you will see an emote ('While exploring near the Nexus teleporter, you smell faint traces of moon cakes. The trail heads east.).
Next, contrary to the emote, the next spot is neat the cave that leads towards Deepshade (area of /waypoint 115, -735, -30). When you get to the right area, you will see an emote ('The smell leads you to water near Paludal Depths, but it's a dead end. However, you now notice a letter tucked near the cavern wall.').
Next, look around, nearby, for a groundspawn (it looks like a blue-ish collect) an pick it up. It's a First Note to Basia.

3) DARKLIGHT CAVERNS: You are here to get a couple of updates.
Head west towards the water, in the area of /waypoint -365, 205, 60. When you get to the right place you will see an emote ('Were those crumbs of moon cake? What's that near the mushroom? It looks to be another letter.').
Nearby, look for a groundspawn (it looks like a blue-ish collect... area of /waypoint -300, 225, 55) and pick it up. It's a Second Note to Basia.

4) PALUDAL DEPTHS: You are here to get a couple of updates.
Head to the water area on the north side of the southern part of the zone, in the area of /waypoint -1825, 120, -15. When you get to the right spot you will see an emote ('You become hungry. The smell of cakes and sweets seem to end here').
Next, look around and nearby you should see a groundspawn (it looks like a blue-ish collect). Pick it up, it's the Third Note to Basia.

5) PLANE OF KNOWLEDGE: You are here to find Wesley.
Head up about two (2) levels for a location update (area of /waypoint --25, 915, 70), near the Ranger spell vendors.
Nearby you should see Wesley (/waypoint 30, 820, 70).
Hail Wesley and follow along.

6) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: Head back to Basia, Shadow Murmurer.
Give the First Note to Basia, Second Note to Basia & Third Note to Basia to Basia, Shadow Murmurer.
To finish up, hail Basia, Shadow Murmurer and follow along if needed.
This should also complete the Achievement: Festival of Shadow: It's Dangerous to go Alone.
Rewards include two (2) Lunar Cake (noob stat food), a Potted Catnip (placeable, see top of page) and Cat Ears (a convertible head ornament).
ACHIEVEMENT: TAKE THIS (HOLLOWSHADE MOOR) (Collect Set)
1) HOLLOWSHADE MOOR: You are here to find and collect (click) eight (8) items, as follows:
These are found all about the zone, but I found most of mine to the south and around the islands.
The ground spawn collects are purple-ish in color.
