This quest really isn't that hard… once you have the right access and Guild support. However, those two concerns are the hard parts!
It results in a nice (placeable) range item!

THE QUEST
.
1) ZONE ACCESS: First off, you must have progressed your way to the point that you can access Tacvi, Seat of the Slayer. You will also need to be in a Guild (or tag along on a raid) that goes there.

2) TACVI, SEAT OF THE SLAVER: Once here, there are fourteen (14) books that you need to loot… so make sure you have that many slots open!
Each of these items is located on a "dead adventurer" that you can /open (just like a chest). These adventurers are located through out the zone. If you are lucky, you can get all 14 in one trip there (that is, if no one else wants them and your raid completes the zone)!
NOTE: If you have ever played the tutorial, you may recognize that these are familiar names from there. The "great adventurers" are named for EQ developers.

3) ABYSMAL SEA: The items can be handed in as you get them, in any order.
Some NPC’s will take more than one item. You can hail them and follow along, if you wish, for the lore.
Once you have the any of the above items, you need to turn them in to the related NPC’s in this zone, as noted below:

4) Once you have all the items delivered, go back to De'Van Szostek.
Say to him, "My task is complete."
He will then give you the Tome of New Beginnings!
