THE WURMSLAYER

The wurmslayer is decent low level One Handed-Slash (1HS) weapon, but it is a bit slow and it's also heavy (10 pounds after the off-set of the 5 strength bonus it has).

However, the advantage is that a Pally can have a high-damage 1HS weapon and carry a shield to bash with, while also increasing AC and other adds by having the shield in hand.

For non-Pally players, those who can duel-wield, will like the high-damage weapon in one hand while having a faster weapon in the other.

In either case, haste buffs and items can enhance the speed of the Wurmslayer.

In any situation, the Wurmslayer, while it is draining on your stamina, is one weapon that a lower level Paladin's might want to seek out.

QUEST SHORTCUT

1) Start in the Burning Woods.

Your need to kill two (2) named dragons (wurms) here.

They are Azdalin (said to spawn in SW corner area of zone) and Gylton (said to spawn in the NE corner area of zone).

Both of these dragons are about Level 45.

You will need to loot a "Dragon Scale" from each of them.

The Dragon Scales are not No Trade (Magic, Lore, Weight 2.5), so they can be traded/sold.

.

2A) Now for the tricky part.

There is a third Dragon Scales to obtain.

Before you leave the Burning Wood, look for a third dragon/wurm named Xyfl.

If he is there, kill him to obtain the 3rd Dragon Scales.

Xyfl is also a Level 45-ish dragon/wurm. I understand he is a rare spawn and hard to find. If you succeed, skip to #3, below.

If not, you can go the alternate route starting with #2B, below.

.

2B) Head for the Overthere.

Here you will have to kill a Level 50 gargoyle named Tektite (said to spawn near the docks).

You need to loot an item called the Fragment of Tektite (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1) off of him.

This item can also be obtained by trading with Tektite. He will give you a Fragment of Tektite in trade for two (2) Carnelians (purchased at most gem dealers).

However, if you are KOS this will not be possible. I have heard of some people using invisible and then sneak to trade with Tektite, but Paladin's can't sneak. However, it is possible to MQ this item (see below).

.

2C) Head for the Plane of Knowledge.

Buy a Peridot from the gem dealer there (unless you all ready have one... if you do skip to #2D).

.

2D) Head for the Temple of Solusek Ro.

Inside the Temple you need to find Lord Lyfyx of Burwood.

Give him the Fragment of Tektite and the Peridot and he will give you the third Dragon Scales.

If the Fragment of Tektite was MQ'ed for you, the other player can make this trade and then give you the Dragon Scales (again, I am unsure of faction needs here, so if you are using an evil player to MQ... be wary).

.

3) Lastly, head for Firiona Vie.

Find Squire Fuzzmi, who wanders about all over the zone.

Give him all three of the Dragon Scales and he will give you the Wurmslayer.

NOTE: Firiona Vie was revamped in 2005 -- I am not sure if this NPC was moved or not. In that eh wanders, my guess is that he remained the same.
