LOYALIST SHIELD OF HONOR
AKA: Vampyre Troubles
This quest is not all that difficult with a reasonable 55-plus group of just a healer, slower and tank can do it!
The end result is a very nice shield that you can wear on your back or use as a shield!

STATUS: Steps 1 to 15 completed and verified. After that, I abandoned the quest, as I had a better shield and back!

THE QUEST
1) KATTA CASTELLUM: Find Phenic Dionicas (Level 60).
He is in the building to the right (inside the hedges) as you zone in from
Say to him, "I will track down the defilers."
He will give you a Request Form (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

2) SHADOWHAVEN: Make your way to Shadowhaven.
All most directly across the Paladin/Cleric guild… very near the bank there is a building where you will find Record Keeper Ajar (Level 35) (location p50, p150).
Give him the Request Form.
He will give you Old Merchant Records (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

3) KATTA CASTELLUM: Go back to Phenic.
Give him the Old Merchant Records.
He will give you Katta Castellum Badge of Service (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

4) Go find Nathyn Illuminious (Level 63 to 64).
He is in the first building on the left, as you zone in from
You will have to walk all the around to the other side to get in. You will find him upstairs.
Give him the Katta Castellum Badge of Service and he will give it back.
Then say to him, "What captured Vampyres?"
He will give you the Report of Nathyn's Questioning (Lore, no Drop, Weight 0.1).

5) Go back to Phenic.
Give him the Report of Nathyn's Questioning.
He will give you Orders for Legionnaire Falion (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

6) TENEBROUS MOUNTAINS: As you leave the gates, there is a guard on your left.
Normally this is Legionnaire Doctalious (Level 40) (who may still be there). If so, within 10 minutes, he will despawn and shortly thereafter Legionnaire Falion (Level 50) will appear in his place.
I have done this twice. Once he spawned before I got there and once he took over ten minutes to appear.
Give Falion the Orders to Legionnaire Falion.

7) Now make your way to the

I have done this twice. Once he was all ready there just standing in place (area of p520, n873). The second time he did not appear for about 30 minutes and was seen pathing by.
It is now that you will need a group (or at least a healer, depending on your level), as you now face your first battle.
Give Kerzar the Katta Castellum Badge of Service.
He will give it back and attack you. I believe he is a cleric, as he could heal himself and nuke. He conned dark blue to me at level 56.
Once you beat him he will not die, per se. He will sort of respawn and stand there, defeated.
At this point, say to him, "What abilities."
He will give you an Old Bone Key (Magic, Lore, No Drop; Weight 0.1) (it will appear on your cursor).
At the same time 4 (four) Coterie Generals (Level 44 to 46) will spawn around you and attack.
Run east back to Katta or south to
Or, if you wish, fight them. It is not necessary for the quest that you kill them.

8) KATTA CASTELLUM: Go back to Nathyn's building (see #4).
As you go in the front door veer to the right. There is a secret wall there.
It will take you to a little side room where you will see Private Sentinel Frieza (Level 46), Private Sentinel Tozza (Level 46) and a Locked Chest (Level 1).
Time to fight again.
First kill the two Sentinels (this will save you fighting three MOB's, rather than two).
They respawn in short time so keep the show on the road (no medding).
Give the Old Bone Key to a Locked Chest.
This will spawn an Imprisoned Shade (Level 50).
Kill it and loot the Autarkic Shade Lord Belt (Magic, Lore, No Drop, Weight 2.0) and A Worn Research Book (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

9) Go back to Phenic.
Give him Worn Research Book.
He will give you Instructions for Lathin Firetree (Lore, No Drop, Weight 1.0).

10) Now find Lathin Firetree (Level 61).
Basically leave the building Phenic is in, turn right past the hedges and follow them to the right and go to the building there. Go in the building. On the back wall is a symbol. Click on it to go to the first floor. There you will see another symbol on the wall. Click it to go to the second floor.
Lathin is in a room on this floor. Give him the Instructions for Lathin Firetree and the Autarkic Shade Lord Belt.
He will give you a Shade Figurine Sketch (Lore, Weight 0.1) and a Conlegium Enchanted Glaze (Lore, Weight 0.1).
To get out simply click the wall symbol on this level to get to the third floor and then click the one there to get back to the bottom floor.

11) PLANE OF KNOWLEDGE (or any zone with Pottery Merchants, a Pottery Wheel and a Kiln).
Now comes the crafting part.
Using a Pottery Wheel, combine the Shade Figurine Sketch, a Water Flask and a Large Block of Clay.
The Trivial on this is 302.
Fortunately, you get the Sketch back on failures and can try it over and over and over.
My skill was 140 and I managed to make it after about 30 tries.
The end result is an Unfired Shade Summoning Figurine (Lore, Weight 0.1).
NOTE: The above item is not No Drop, so you can recruit a Master Potter to do this for you, if you wish.
Now find a Kiln and combine the Unfired Shade Summoning Figurine with the Conlegium Enchanted Glaze and a High Quality Firing Sheet to make a Shade Summoning Figurine (Lore, Wright 0.1) (trivial is zero).

12) KATTA CASTELLUM: Have a decent group with you (depending on level), as this steps activates a battle sequence.
Go back to the Lathin.
Give him the Shade Summoning Figurine.
He will give back.

13) On the first floor three NPC's will spawn… Praecantor Selis Dawneyes (Level 39) and Incantator Jak Masric (Level 44) and Theugus Ajeea Polaja (Level 38).

Give Theugus Ajeea Polaja the Shade Summoning Figurine.
She will give you an Enchanted Record of Events (Magic, Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).
This will spawn Autarkic Lord Sfarosh (Level 52), after a lull.
Just be patient as there will be some slow back and forth conversation between the noted NPC's (they must talk for five minutes, LOL).
Just be ready.
At Level 65, I had only a healer and myself and done this part with little trouble.
In a short while, three (3) An Autarkic Umbrage Shade will spawn (Level 48).
Now you need to kill them (they are undead) and Autarkic Lord Sfarosh.
Loot the 3 (three) Autarkic Shade Robe (Magic, No drop, Weight 0.1) and the Autarkic Shade Lord Robe (Magic, Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

14) Now go up to the third floor to find Incantator Jak Masric.
Give him the four Robes and he will give you a Magus Conlegium Token (Magic, lore, No Drop, Weight 0.5).

15) Back to Phenic.
Give him the Enchanted Record of Events.

16) TENEBROUS MOUNTAINS: Back to the
You must get Heratius Grolden (Level 58) to spawn.
He is immune to all melee attacks except those that are Bane: Vampyre!
NOTE: Kill one of the Guards at the Katta Castellum and you can loot a Phosphorus Torch, which is a Vampyre Bane Weapon.
It is rumored that he will only spawn every 72 hours and even then, only after the four "normal" named vampyres are killed inside the castle.
Killing him should then spawn Valdonov Zevfeer (Level 62).
Valdonov immune to all melee attacks except those that are Bane: Vampyre!
Once he is dead, loot the Vampire Volatilis Ashes.
NOTE: Both Valdonov and Heratius drop Vampire Volatilis Ashes. They are NOT the same! Only the ashes dropped by Valdonov are acceptable.

17) KATTA CASTELLUM: Back to Phenic!
Give him the Vampire Volatilis Ashes, the Katta Castellum Badge of Service and the Magus Conlegium Token.
In return he will give you the Loyalist Shield of Honor!
