QEYNOS BADGE OF NOBILITY

THE QUEST(S)

BADGE #1

NOTE: I quickly found that the first quest was (and perhaps still is) bugged. The Investigator would not follow me (like a pet), as he is supposed to do. I managed to work around this by simply running back and forth to the Investigator. Thus, the outline below follows that method. If the bug has been fixed, simply leave out the running-around part and, instead, direct the Investigator to follow you (like you would a pet) (/say follow).

1) NORTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: In the North East corner (up from the wood bridge to Eastern Karana) is a shadowknight named Guard Shilster (Level 16 or 17).

Find and kill him.

Loot the Cracked Corrupt Guard Helm (Lore, No Drop, Weight 1.0) that he drops.

If he isn't there, his spawn time is said to be 30 minutes.

2) NORTH QEYNOS: In the upper levels of the city gate (in the door and up the steps) you will find Vegalys Keldrane (Level 58 to 60).

Give him the Cracked Corrupt Guard Helm.

He will give you a book called Investigator's Briefing (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

I don't know how much faction matters, but my faction was Kindly, just in case it becomes an issue for you.

3) SOUTH QEYNOS: At a tree outside the Lions Mane Tavern (near the docks) you will find an Investigator (Level 13 to 15).

Give him the Investigator's Briefing.

4) Locate the first suspect.

NOTE: Follow these instructions very carefully. Despite what is written in the Investigators Briefing book (you can read it) and what is posted on other web sites, this quest has changed and/or is bugged (at least it was, when I did it)!

An inspector will NOT follow you around (unless this has been fixed).

Further, unless you speak the necessary lines to the necessary NPC's, the quest WILL NOT work!

I had to do this more than once to figure it out.

·         Say to an Inspector "Where is the first suspect?"

·         Then head to the “Fireprides Forgery,” which is directly behind you, to the left, just past the stone archway.

·         Inside there, you will see Riley Shplots (Level 10).

·         Say to him, "Are you a member of the Bloodsabers?"

·         Now run back to an Inspector and say, "Give me a confession document."

·         He will give you a Confession Document (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

·         Run back to Riley Shplots and give him the Confession Document.

·         He will give you back Rylie's Confession (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

·         Now return to an Inspector and say, "Summon a Guard." The Guards will go arrest Riley.

5) Locate the second suspect.

·         Say to an Inspector "Where is the second suspect?"

·         Head to the bottom floor of the Arena, which is to the right, out through the same archway as above.

·         Inside there, you will see Willie Garrote (Level 10), down in the bottom jail cell area.

·         He may not spawn immediately but he will appear within three (3) minutes or so.

·         When he does, say to him, "Are you a member of the Bloodsabers?"

·         Now run back to an Inspector and say, "Give me a confession document."

·         He will give you a Confession Document.

·         Run back to Willie Garrote and give him the Confession Document.

·         He will give you back Willie's Confession (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

·         Now return to an Inspector and say, "Summon a Guard." The Guards will go arrest Willie.

6) Locate the third suspect.

·         Say to an Inspector "Where is the third suspect?"

·         Then turn around and then head to the second section of docks and drop down on the beach.

·         There, you will see Donally Stultz (Level 25).

·         Say to him, "Are you a member of the Bloodsabers?"

·         Now run back to an Inspector and say, "Give me a confession document."

·         He will give you a Confession Document.

·         Run back to Donally Stultz and give him the Confession Document.

·         He will attack you. You will then have to kill him.

·         Loot the Head of Donally Stultz (Lore, No Drop, Weight 1.0).

7) You may notice that an Inspector has made his way to your side.

If not, head back to where he was.

Important! Either way, first say to him, "Give me a confession document." He will give you a Confession Document (you will need this in the next leg of the quest and it will save time to get it now, as opposed to later).

Then give him Rylie's Confession, Willie's Confession and the Head of Donally Stultz.

He will give you the Investigators Badge (Magic, Lore, No Drop, Neck. All/All, AC 1, STR 1, INT 1, WIS 1, AGI 1, HP 5, Mana 5, Weight 0.1) and despawn (End 1st quest).

BADGE #2

9) NORTH QEYNOS: Go back to Vegalys Keldrane.

Give him your Investigators Badge.

He will give you a book called Interrogator's Briefing (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

10) SOUTHERN PLAINS OF KARANA: You need to find an Interrogator (Level 25 or 26), in the area of n4390, n3450 (from bridge to NK, go east and then south).

Give him the Interrogator's Briefing.

He will respond slow and act slow.

Be PATIENT! Seriously! An Interrogator seems to be the slowest walking and talking NPC in all of EQ!

Shortly, he will leave.

Follow him.

11) An Interrogator will go to a building and call out Theodore Exanthem (Level 25).

Say to Theodore Exanthem, "Take us to the location."

Now wait for the conversation (patience again...) that follows.

After an Interrogator says, "Well, I'm getting tired...," it will be time to use some hard tactics.

NOTE: I also found this quest to be bugged, as the 2 NPC's in S. Karana could not get into proper position with each other, to say their lines and continue the sequence. I got a GM to watch and they had it fixed in the next patch… so it should work now. However, they now position in such a way that they occupy the same space. Thus, be careful that you DO NOT attack an Interrogator!

Now, carefully attack Theodore Exanthem (make sure you have him targeted and not an Interrogator)!

After you "kill" him, he will "respawn" and stand there in a more cooperative state of mind.

12) Now give Theodore Exanthem a Confession Document and he will give you back Theodore's Confession (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

13) Now say to Theodore Exanthem, "Take us to the location."

Follow him. He will take you to "the location," which is the Druid Ring just over the hill from you.

You will find Morley Murrain (Level 27), Markus Chachexia (Level 27) along with two (2) (Ghoul) (Level ??) and two (2) (Skeletal Servant) (Level ??).

Kill Morley and Markus and and loot Head of Markus Chachexia and Head of Morley Murrain (both are Lore, No Drop and Weigh 1.0).

At Level 56, I had little trouble with all six (6) MOB's and made short work of them.

14) Now give the Head of Markus Chachexia, the Head of Morley Murrain and Theodore's Confession to an Interrogator.

He will give you the Interrogator's Badge (Magic, Lore, No Drop; AC2; STR2; WIS 2; INT 2; AGI 2; HP 10; Mana 10; All/All). (End Quest #2).

BADGE #3

15) WESTERN PLAINS OF KARANA: In the area of n2050 p3800 look for a MOB named Oobnopterbevny Biddilets (Level 32 to 40).

She is a Level 32 to 40 Necromancer and will have Oobnopterbevny Biddilets' Pet following her (Level 29).

I was able to take her and her pet pretty easily at Level 56.

Once she is dead, loot Live Enchanted Rat: Jar 1, Live Enchanted Rat: Jar 2 and Live Enchanted Rat: Jar 3 (all are Magic, Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.3).

16) NORTH QEYNOS: Find Velarte Selire (Level 30) at the “ Temple of Life” (near the "spaceship" in the courtyard area).

Once you are ready (see Step 17), give him your Interrogator's Badge and he will give you a Research Briefing (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

17) READ THE BRIEFING!

This book will tell you about playing the game that you are about to play. Basically you have to place the Jars so that a Live or Non-Diseased rat is on either side of two Diseased Rats, which will then affect a cure on the diseased rat in the middle.

You have to place the jars just right or you will fail.

You have ten (10) real life minutes to accomplish this, so you can take your time to figure out where to place the jars. It is much like Reversi or Othello (if you have ever played either of those games).

Basically draw yourself a 4-by-4 grid. Label each row A thru D (top to bottom) and each Column A through D (left to right). You will need this, as it will be the same game grid you are about to "spawn," so you can more easily do this game right.

Now give the Research Briefing back to Velarte Selire.

Turn around and you will see that several Healthy Rats (Level 1 to 4) and Diseased Rats (Level 1 to 4) have spawned behind you.

You should also notice that they are lined up in four columns.

You should also notice that any "space" that a rat does not occupy is "named" by a “floating” letter designation (just as if an invisible MOB was standing there).

The letter designation you see in the game is the same as the grid I told you to draw. Thus, AA is the 1st square on the top left corner. DD is the bottom right corner.

What you have to do is place the Live Enchanted Rat: Jar 1, Live Enchanted Rat: Jar 2, and the Live Enchanted Rat: Jar 3 in the correct vacant squares.

You do this by "giving" them to the "invisible MOB," so to speak. Do not give them to a rat! If you give the jar to a rat, you should get it back... but why risk it?

The idea is to place each jar adjacent to a Healthy Rat, separated by Diseased Rat(s).

Example, if a Healthy Rat is in AA and a Diseased Rats are in both AB and AC, then placing a jar in AD will spawn a Healthy Rat in AD and cure the Diseased Rats in AB and AC... making them all into Healthy Rats.

Solving this puzzle will require the proper placing of all three jars. Failure means you are back at Quest #1 (as you just gave up your Badge to initialize this sequence)!

So, my best advice is to take your time, draw the grid, spawn the rats and mark the rats on your grid. Mark where you will place Jar 1 and what it will do; then Jar 2 and what it will do; and then Jar 3... to make sure the "cures" work to ultimately result in zero (0) Diseased Rats. Once you think you got it right on paper, place the jars!

After you place each jar correctly, you will get an empty jar back and should end up with Empty Enchanted Jar 1Empty Enchanted Jar 2 and Empty Enchanted Jar 3 (all of which are Magic, Lore, No Drop and Weight 0.3).

18) Now give the Empty Enchanted Jar 1Empty Enchanted Jar 2 and the Empty Enchanted Jar 3 to Velarte Selire.

He will give you the Researcher's Badge (Magic, Lore, No Drop, Neck. All/All, AC 4, STR 3, INT 3, WIS 3, AGI 3, HP 15, Mana 15, Weight 0.1) and despawn (End 3rd quest).

BADGE #4

19) Head back to Vegalys Keldrane and give him your Researcher's Badge.

He will give you the Seal of Vegalys (Magic, Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

20) QEYNOS AQUEDUCTS: Head down into the Qeynos Aqueducts.

You will find an Investigator (Level 13 to 15) lying on the ground in the area of p953 p26.

Give him the Seal of Vegalys (he will give it back), to spawn the next MOB (see #21).

21) Head to the secret area through one of several secret walls. Generally head to the area of p515 p0 (the second coordinate "0" is your focus) and you will soon find a wall you can walk through.

In here you will find Guard Helminth (Level 35) in the area of p376 n49.

Give him your Seal of Vegalys and he will give it back.

Then say to him, "I am ready to complete the Mission."

This will cause Guard Helminth to become Corrupt Guard Helminth (Level 50). He will attack you and you will have to kill him. I was able to solo this at level 56.

While you are attacking him, you may soon find yourself also fighting proximity aggro (adds) as well, so be ready for that. Killing Corrupt Guard Helminth is the key, however, as this will spawn the next MOB.

22) Now, go further up the hall is Azibelle Spavin (Level 50) and Azibelle Spavin's Pet.

She is a Shadow Knight. She is standing a little ways down the hall, just past four a Spectre (Level 33 to 37).

You need to kill her. Once she is dead, you need to loot the Head of Azibelle Spavin (Lore, No Drop, Weight 1.0).

23) NORTH QEYNOS: Head back to Vegalys Keldrane.

Give him the Seal of Vegalys and the Head of Azibelle Spavin.

He will give you the Qeynos Badge of Honor (Magic, Lore, No Drop, AC 5, STR 4, WIS 4, INT 4, AGI 4, HP 25, MANA 25, All/All, Effect: See Invisible {Worn} (End Quest #4).

BADGE #5

24) JAGGEDPINE: Make your way to the little village here, where you can find Sergeant Caelin (Level 50).

Say to him, "What shift report?"

If he does not trust you, you will have to build faction to Amiable (as mine was). This can be accomplished by killing Gnolls in the cave just North and East of the village, up on the zone wall.

If your faction is good enough, he will ask to see your Qeynos Badge of Honor. Give it to him.

He will then return to you a Marked Qeynos Badge of Honor (same stats as the normal Qeynos Badge of Honor, just a different name) and an Official Warning (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

25) Turn around and you will find Guard Finewine (Level 28) at a different building.

Give him the Official Warning and he will ask you to retrieve something.

.

26) Hunting time!

Now you need to make either a Potameid Pate (INT 4, All/All, Weight 0.1) or a Dryad Pate ( WIS 4, All/All, Weight 0.1).

Make one or the other, not both. You choose.

You can find Potameids in the river on the far north and east corner of the zone. They are all Level 38 to Level 50. I had to kill about five before I found a Potameid Parts (Weight 0.0). I chose to go with the Potameids as the Dryads (for Dryad Parts, Weight 0.0) have faction and I did not want to loose faction.

While you are at it, you will also need to hunt A Black Panther (Level 38 to 43), here in Jaggedpine.

It took me about 15 kills before I found a Panther Liver (No Drop, Weight 0.1), which is what you are after.

27) SOUTH QEYNOS: Unless you have a spit, the nearest oven is in South Qeynos, as are the vendors who sell Brandy and Spices, which you will also need (two of each).

You will also need a Plant Shoot (Weight 0.1). The shoots are foraged (in Jaggedpine), or you can get them from another player.

The recipe for the Pate is Plant Shoot, Brandy (Weight 0.0), Spices (Weight 0.1) and either Potameid Parts or the Dryad Parts (whichever you choose).

Trivial is 151 Baking.

28) JAGGEDPINE: Give the Potameid Pate (or the Dryad Pate) to Guard Finewine.

He will then give you back the Official Warning and some Finewine Family Brandy (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.3).

29) SOUTH QEYNOS: NOTE: If you have a spit, you don't have to go back to Qeynos.

Now you need to make some Panther Pate (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

Since the Panther Liver and the Finewine Family Brandy are both no drop, you have to make this yourself.

The recipe is Panther Liver, Plant Shoot, Finewine Family Brandy and Spices (Baking Trivial of 15).

30) JAGGEDPINE: Now give Guard Finewine the Panther Pate and the Official Warning.

He will now give you a Stack of Shift Reports (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.5).

.

31) Give the Stack of Shift Reports to Sergeant Caelin and he will give you a Compiled Report (Lore, No Drop, Weight 1.2).

.

32) SOUTH QEYNOS: Go to Captain Tillin (Level 61), who is up in the top level of the Arena there.

Give him the Completed Report.

He will give to you Orders for Sergeant Caelin (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

.

33) JAGGEDPINE: Go back to Caelin.

Make sure you have an open bag slot, first.

Give him the Orders for Sergeant Caelin (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).

He will give you a Writ of Execution (Weight 0.1, Lore, No Drop) and a Black Satchel (Weight 1.0, 2-slot, Lore, No Drop).

34) Now you have to kill Barducks Darkpaw (Level 52 to 53), who has about 15K in Hit Points and is highly magic resistant.

He is located deep in the back of the gnoll cave. Basically, when you go in the caves take the left passage, the second right passage, then the first left passage and then go straight to the little cul-de-sac dead-end. He is in this room, if he is up.

It may be a good idea to kill everything on the way and to pull the room clear before you engage Barducks (or try to Invis your way there). He will drop the Head of Barducks Darkpaw (Lore, No Drop Weight 3.0), that you need to loot.

Once he is dead, beware. Five (5) Minutes after he is dead the zone will be swarmed by waves of Gnolls.

If you want, kill as many of these Gnolls as you can and loot the potions they drop. Giving the Potions to Sergeant Caelin, before he despawns, will reward you with random loot.

35) Put the Head of Barducks Darkpaw and the Writ of Execution in the Black Satchel.

Combine them to get a Closed Black Satchel (Lore, No Drop, Weight 3.7).

.

36) Now give to Sergeant Caelin the Closed Black Satchel.

He will reward you with the Qeynos Badge of Nobility!
