This quest/task gains you a progressively better charm.
The more waves you defeat, the better the charm becomes. Beat all 41 (yes, 41) waves to max it out!
This event is not overly easy and it will take a couple of hours. I mention this because you cannot substitute group members, per se, and continue the task.
If you replace a group member, the event will either reset or start at the highest wave the new member has accomplished (say "Resume").
If you don't finish the event, you can start it up again ("resume"), but you need to have the same identical group. If you don't have the same group, it can only be started at the point for which the group member who has completed the least amount of waves.
Arena Champion's Badge: Lore, No Trade, Magic; Weight 0.8; All/All; Type 7 Slot; 20 AC, 10 STR, 10 DEX, 10 STA, 10 CHA, 10 WIS, 10 INT, 10 AGI; Fire 10, DIS 10, COLD 10, MAGIC 10, POISON 10; HP 153, MANA 153, END 153; Avoidance 10, Accuracy 10, Regen 5.

THE QUEST
A) EAST
Before you speak to him, make sure you have a good group together. While you can enter this event with any group, you want the best group you can find in order to have a shot at completing the event and maxing out your charm.
A group with a good tank, a slower, a good healer, DPS and some modem of snare/roots/crowd control, is beneficial.
When ready, hail Eddard and follow along, or just try saying, "I have come to brave the challenges of the arena."
Then each person needs to say to him, I am ready," to zone in.
.
B) ARENA: AKA Freeport Arena, not to be confused with The Arena.
Once you zone in, you will see Eddard again.
Hail him and he will give you the stat-less version of the Arena Champion's Badge.
.
C) Time to fight!
Now all you have to do is defeat wave after wave after wave of MOB's.
To start each wave, you simply say to Eddard, "I am ready." You can med and recover between waves as for long as you wish.
Some notes....
* The MOB(s) will spawn on the opposite side of the Arena.
* Some waves spawn adds that appear at varying levels of health of the main MOB, while others seem timed.
* A strategy to use is to pull the main MOB into the "lower room" (1st room on left down the ramp behind Eddard) area so that when the adds pop they will not aggro (they normally pop in the top arena area).
* It seems to be purely random, on each wave, if MOB's will root, snare or mezz... or not.
* It appears this event difficulty may is scaled for group level (not sure). It will scale down. It is not known at this time if it also will scale up.
* While MOB's in each wave have similar names, they aren't the same types (race) of MOB's.
* Kiting is best accomplished in the "lower arena" (down the ramp and left to the end) (to avoid also having to kite more and more MOB's).
* Hailing Eddard after each wave does NOT save your progress. Do NOT say "Leave" to zone out, as this is to leave task, not the zone.
* The zone out is up the steps (in the arena area), through the tunnel (click door there) on the far wall from Eddard.
NOTE: There is a secret strategy! On each wave where there are adds, you only need to kill the initial MOB(s)... not the adds. This is done by pulling the initial MOB(s) below and killing them there. The adds always spawn up top. After the main MOB's are dead, say "Leave" to Eddard and zone out. Once you zone out, leave the task. Once everyone is out of the task, re-acquire the task and you will start up with the next wave you left off at... (the adds from the last wave will be gone, as you have restarted the task on the step after the one you just finished)!
